Ever noticed only Singaporeans say “paywave”? 🇸🇬

“PayWave” started life as a Visa’s brand name for contactless payment. Everywhere else in the world it quietly got retired and replaced by ‘tap’, ‘contactless’, ‘tap to pay’.

But here? We made it a verb.

“How would you like to pay?”

“Paywave please!”

It’s one of those names that become the thing itself — like Grab or Google. A trademark so woven into daily life it stopped belonging to a company and started belonging to us.
