Other than XPS, we have UPS, ISS, and REELS for surface analysis. UPS measures bandgap of semiconductor using UV lamp. ISS probes top most layer of material using scattered ions(top most monolayer, atomic coverage), REELS can probe Hydrogen atoms using reflected electrons. These are accessories of XPS, advanced XPS equipment will have them.
Is XPS only the "surface technique"?
