We usually begin EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) by tapping on the Side of the Hand.
The Side of the Hand point is mainly used while vocalising a setup statement.
Tapping on this point helps to correct reversals or self-sabotage situations.
Location: Fleshy part on the side of your hand between the pinky finger and the wrist.
Acupoint: Small Intestine Meridian
Releases: Paralysis, feeling stuck or frozen, resistance to change, worry, inability to let go, sorrow, and obsession.
Restores: Ease, willingness to let go of the old, healing from grief, finding happiness in and connecting to the present moment.
I also tap on the Side of the Hand continuously while client shares about the problem that they are facing almost as soon as our session starts. This helps us to work right away on their resistance while holding a safe space for them to share about their issues.
Try tapping on the Side of the Hand point as you verbalise the setup statement....
"Even though I have this problem (whatever specific issue you are having), I accept that this is how I feel."
Hope this helps!
Tap into transformation, Evelyn

Have you ever said something in the heat of the moment and regretted it almost immediately after?
I remember reacting sharply to a loved one over something minor. My emotions just took over. In that moment, my chest tightened, my thoughts raced, and I braced myself for a confrontation.
But later, after calming down, it no longer felt so big.
Which made me wonder:
“Why did I react that way?”
Psychologist Daniel Goleman described this as an “amygdala hijack” — when the emotional brain overrides the rational thinking brain.
When the nervous system perceives danger — whether physical or emotional — the body can enter fight, flight, freeze, or fawn mode. In those moments, clear thinking becomes less accessible.
The body reacts first. Thinking comes later.
It explains how it can be challenging to think your way out of an overloaded nervous system state.
Before we can reason, we first need regulation.
I often describe the sequence as the 3Rs:
• Regulate — Calm the nervous system
• Relate — Reconnect to the emotional cause with safety and compassion
• Reason — Reflect and respond more clearly.
That is why approaches like breathwork, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) tapping, grounding, and somatic work can be so powerful — they help regulate the nervous system first, which then creates space for emotional processing.
And if this post resonates, find out how you can develop nervous system and emotional regulation skills through learning EFT tapping. Attend my next EFT training that starts on 20 June. DM "training" if you have more questions.

Sometimes, the hardest part is feeling stuck even when you already know what you “should” do.
You know you should rest.
Speak up.
Set boundaries.
Stop overthinking.
Be kinder to yourself.
But somehow, you keep falling into the same patterns.
The overthinking.
The people-pleasing.
The emotional exhaustion.
The anxiety.
The self-doubt.
The pressure to hold everything together while silently struggling inside.
And after a while, it stops feeling like a mindset issue.
It starts feeling like survival mode.
You tell yourself to “just calm down”… but your body stays tense.
You try to stay positive… but your mind keeps spiralling.
You want to move forward… but something inside still feels stuck.
This is why it is no longer just about logic.
Because when your nervous system does not feel safe, it becomes difficult to fully rest, trust, receive, speak up, or let go.
And this is where deeper coaching and emotional work can help.
Not by forcing you to “fix yourself.”
But by helping you regulate your emotional state, feel safer within yourself, and gently understand the patterns underneath your stress, fears, and reactions.
Sometimes, what you truly need is not more advice.
You need a safe space where you no longer have to perform, suppress, or carry everything alone.
A space where your mind can slow down.
Your body can exhale.
And you can reconnect with the version of yourself underneath the overwhelm.
Because real transformation does not happen when you force yourself harder.
It happens when your nervous system finally feels safe enough to change.
And that changes everything.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) has been highlighted on MSN as one of 9 wellness methods that ACTUALLY reduce stress...
"A meta-analysis of 14 randomized controlled trials reported a large treatment effect size for anxiety relief, and EFT has also been linked to significant reductions in cortisol levels, outperforming both talk therapy and rest. Once dismissed as fringe or implausible, tapping therapies are now at the center of a scientific reckoning as mounting clinical and physiological evidence challenges longstanding skepticism."
The 9 energy healing habits wellness experts say actually reduce stress
Stress has become one of the defining health concerns of modern life, and the search for effective ways to manage it has pushed people well beyond the usual advice of exercise and sleep. Over the past few years, a growing number of wellness practitioners and researchers have been looking more seriou...

Delighted and grateful to have officially achieved my PCC (Professional Certified Coach) credential with ICF (International Coaching Federation) after completing the gruelling exams today.
I found some of the exam questions challenging — especially identifying the “worst” responses, where multiple answers could sound seemingly appropriate at first glance. It required not just coaching knowledge, but discernment and alignment with the ICF Core competencies and Code of Ethics. Fortunately, my trainers have reinforced these in me.
A heartfelt thanks to all my 5 trainers for guiding me in this journey. I am grateful for the way they modelled presence, challenged my assumptions, and consistently expanded my awareness of what good coaching truly looks like.
This milestone also represents close to 3 years of commitment, learning, growth, and over 500 sessions logged with paid clients and peer coaches. Coaching has stretched me far beyond techniques and frameworks — it has deepened my capacity for presence, curiosity and trust in the process.
Special thanks to my peer coaches Edwin and Roi who have been such encouraging voices in my PCC journey. Their support, belief, and cheering on behind-the-scenes meant a great deal and helped me stay grounded and motivated throughout this process. Posting a picture that we took together a few weeks ago, when we caught up over lunch with one another.
Also much thanks to all other peer coaches - too many of them to name - who offered me safe spaces to process my thoughts and also who grew alongside with me.
I truly could not have done this alone.
Proud to have received my official badge

Feeling stuck in the same behavioural patterns — no matter how much counselling or therapy conversations you’ve done? 🤔
Here’s a client story that may help shed some light on what may be missing…
Jenny* struggled with severe anxiety for years.
She understood it stemmed from childhood.
She had the awareness. The insights. The therapy.
Yet she couldn't quite figure out why she was unable to heal from the experience, despite her awareness.
Because her anxiety symptoms were still disrupting her daily life. And it got to the point where she had trouble showing up for work.
Jenny wanted better answers and continued to search for them.
She found out that somatic ways could help with unlocking better answers.
That was how we began working together.
We started by creating safety with using a trauma-informed framework through applying EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques.
Applying EFT involved tapping on specific acupressure points while bringing focused attention to the issues that she was having.
Then, as her nervous system relaxed, she was guided to access her subconscious for answers.
That was also when answers naturally surfaced.
In her mind, she could see that her inner child was trapped in a sealed room.
There was a clock in the sealed room but time had stopped.
She was stuck in the room - — suspended in time ⌛️
This wasn’t just a metaphor.
It reflected a freeze response.
When the nervous system experiences something overwhelming and inescapable, it can shift into freeze — shutdown, immobility, disconnection.
It’s protection. The body saying, “This is too much.”
Her inner child wasn’t resisting healing.
Instead, she was frozen.
So the work wasn’t about forcing the door open.
It was about gently updating the internal model. Helping her nervous system feel even safer. Creating a new inner representation where connection was possible.
Only then did the breakthroughs begin.
She went from severe anxiety to being able to clear and release the root cause to her chronic issues.
Reflection: Using gentle approaches for calming the nervous system can be extremely helpful before applying other techniques (such as cognitive processing or reframing).
Have you ever felt paralysed, stuck or overly anxious without knowing where it is coming from?
