Robotics Club VIA at Lentor Health Nursing Home last Thursday, 27 Aug.

Our CCA team of 4 teachers and more than 50 students spent the afternoon engaging the seniors through robotics demonstrations, interactive games and conversations. Beyond showcasing what they had learnt in CCA, the VIA gave students opportunities to practise communication, collaboration and adaptability, while developing greater civic awareness of the needs of seniors in our ageing society.

We are grateful to Lentor Home as well for welcoming our students and giving them the opportunity to learn through serving and connecting with the community.

Happy 61st Birthday, Singapore!

Last week, the Kent Ridge family came together to celebrate our nation’s 61st birthday! The day began with our Observance Ceremony, where our UG cadets put up a simple yet meaningful parade, showcasing their UG pride in service of the Nation. We also took a moment to reflect on the significance of our Pledge through Pledge60, as Ms Tan Peck Joon shared her personal memories of reciting the Pledge in 1966.

The celebrations also gave us an opportunity to recognise and appreciate those who have contributed to our school community. We presented awards to recognise our students’ efforts and achievements, as well as appreciation awards to our valued partners for their continued support of our students and school.

The vibrant spirit of Kent Ridge came alive in the hall through performances by our Modern Dance and Choir CCAs, as well as our Student Leaders, who got everyone moving with the Dance of the Nation!

A heartfelt thank you to our emcees, UGs, Media Club, student performers and leaders, and all our teachers and staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. The celebration would not have been possible without everyone’s effort, enthusiasm and teamwork.

Here’s to Singapore — a nation we are proud to call home! ❤️🤍

On 7 August 2026, Kent Ridge Secondary School (KRSS) commemorated National Day with a meaningful and spirited National Day Observance Ceremony. The ceremony brought together cadets from all five Uniformed Groups in KRSS — the National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC), National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC), Girls’ Brigade (GB), and Boys’ Brigade (BB).

The cadets demonstrated their discipline and commitment throughout the ceremony, executing their drills with precision, confidence and synchronisation. Their sharp movements, steady commands and impeccable turnout reflected the strong sense of pride and teamwork that the Uniformed Groups embody.

Beyond the drills and observances, the ceremony provided an opportunity for our cadets to come together as one school community to reflect on Singapore’s journey and celebrate our shared identity. The occasion also reinforced the values of unity, resilience, discipline and service, reminding our cadets of their role in contributing to a stronger Singapore.

It was a proud and memorable celebration of our nation, made all the more meaningful by the dedication and camaraderie displayed by our KRSS cadets.

In celebration of Singapore‘s 61st birthday, our KRSS Modern Dance CCA brought pride and energy to the West Coast National Day Dinner 2026, performing before host Mr Desmond Lee (MP for West Coast-Jurong West GRC and Minister for Education), special guest Ms Cassandra Lee (Adviser to West Coast-Jurong West GRC), along with over 1,000 guests from the community.

With a stage far smaller than rehearsed, our 14 dancers (3 Sec 2s and 11 Sec 1s) had to think fast — adjusting spacing and formations on the spot. A true display of critical, adaptive, and inventive thinking in action!

Our Literature students had a wonderful experience at this year’s National Schools Literature Festival (NSLF) as Literature students and teachers from all over Singapore participated in this exciting event! Our Book Parade team won 2nd place and we are so proud of their hard work, effort and dedication to the subject 🏆 Our debaters also did a fantastic job and we are so proud of their effort and dedication. Small Actions, Stronger Singapore — Our 2026 Sec 2 NDP National Education Learning Journey

🧠 “I realised that Singapore’s security depends on the hard work and training of the SAF. The NE Roadshow helped me understand this better.”

❤️ “Packing the NDP Packs was the most meaningful moment because I felt that even a small contribution could support a national event.”

✋ “I can volunteer in school and help keep my community clean because every small action can make a difference.”

These are some of the meaningful reflections shared by our Secondary 2 students after their NDP National Education Learning Journey on 16 July 2026.

Through an engaging and authentic learning experience, our students:

💡 Deepened their Sense of Belonging by understanding how the National Day Parade brings Singaporeans together and strengthens our shared national identity;

🛡️ Strengthened their Sense of Hope and Reality through the NE Roadshow, where they learnt about the role of the Singapore Armed Forces and the effort, training and commitment required to safeguard Singapore;

🎁 Developed the Will to Act by working alongside their classmates to pack a total of 6000 NDP Packs and contribute meaningfully to a national celebration; and

🤝 Built stronger friendships and teamwork as they coordinated their roles, supported one another and experienced how many hands can make light work.

We are deeply grateful to NDP Pack Committee, our School Leaders and our Parent Volunteers for their support that made this meaningful experience possible. Through learning, reflection and action, our Kent Ridgeans are discovering how they can play their part in building a safer, more caring and more united Singapore.

On Monday, 20 July 2026, we held our inaugural KR Speaks! Public Speaking Competition. It is a lower secondary public speaking competition, organised by the EL Department. Open to Secondary 1 and 2 students, the competition aims to promote public speaking as a key social and academic skill, developing students’ e21CC competency in Communication. It also provides students with a platform to sharpen their ideas, build confidence and learn from proficient speakers, fostering Inventive Thinking, Adaptive and Critical Thinking, and Self-Directed Learning.

Commemorating Racial Harmony Day 2026 at KRSS

Our students enjoyed a vibrant RHD commemoration filled with hands-on experiences and meaningful learning.

On Monday, 20 July, they personalised keychains with multicultural elements, explored the scents of herbs and spices that connect our cultures, and had fun with traditional games such as Chapteh and Five Stones, organised by the NE Committee and the Parent Support Group.

The celebration culminated in an engaging assembly programme today on 21 July by A’ART SG, featuring the interactive theatre performance Under One Roof. Through humour, music and audience participation, students reflected on the importance of respect, understanding and inclusivity in our multicultural society. Students also enjoyed lively multicultural dance performances and even took to the stage to join in the fun!

Students and staff came dressed in traditional ethnic costumes, proudly celebrating the rich cultures that make Singapore home.

At KRSS, we believe that every act of understanding, respect and friendship helps strengthen the social fabric of our nation. Together, we continue to celebrate our differences, cherish our shared identity, and go Beyond Frontiers.
