🎉 Congratulations to Kesavan Avanthika, Class of 6E (2024)! 🎉

We are proud to celebrate Avanthika’s outstanding achievement in winning the Prime Minister’s Book Prize (PMBP), a prestigious annual award that promotes effective bilingualism. This year, only 11 Primary School students across Singapore received this honour and Avanthika was one of them! 🌟

Her teachers fondly remember her for her resilience, positive attitude, and humble nature throughout her foundation and graduating years.

We hope Avanthika’s success inspires all Wellingtonians to pursue their passions with the same determination and positive spirit. 💜

✨ Congratulations once again, Avanthika! We wish you the very best in your future endeavours.

Our school introduced a new initiative to promote interest in the Arts and to provide students with an avenue to explore a new instrument.

This initiative was piloted with a small group of Primary 4 students who were given the opportunity to learn the cello.

The programme was conducted in partnership with Mr Chan Wei Shing, an accomplished cellist from the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. This partnership was made possible through the kind introduction by our SAC member, Mr Alan Wah, and was taken up by parents who supported their children throughout the 8-week journey.

With the conclusion of the programme, our young musicians have not only developed new skills, but have also grown in confidence and resilience.

🇸🇬 SG 60 NE Show 2025 – A Day to Remember for Our Primary 5 Students! 🇸🇬

On 12 July, our Primary 5 students had an unforgettable experience as they attended the National Education (NE) Show at the Padang! 🎉🎈

With hearts full of pride and eyes lit with excitement, they cheered loudly as the Red Lions parachuted gracefully from the skies. They also witnessed the integrated aerial flypast, and were awed by the spectacular fireworks lighting up Singapore’s skyline. 💥✈️🪂

This year, they also had a special treat — watching the Mobile Column roll past up close, giving them a deeper appreciation of our SAF and Home Team’s dedication to keeping Singapore safe and secure. 🚓🚒🚑

Beyond the celebrations, this NE Show was a meaningful platform for our students to reflect on what it means to be Singaporean, and how they too can contribute to our nation’s future. 🇸🇬❤️

Young Global Citizens in the Making: Learning Journey to Beijing

A group of our 14 enthusiastic Primary 5 students, in collaboration with Ferngreen Primary School, embarked on a meaningful 6-day, 5-night overseas learning journey to Beijing, China.

🏫 Experiencing School Life in Beijing
A major highlight was the three-day immersion at The Experimental School Affiliated with Beijing No. 20 High School. Our students experienced authentic school life alongside their Chinese peers by attending lessons and participating in activities. These interactions helped them develop communication and interpersonal skills, including respectful expression, teamwork, and empathy. Through cultural exchanges, they built meaningful friendships and sustainable relationships, deepening cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.

🏯 Exploring China’s Rich Heritage
Students also developed cultural intelligence, deepened historical knowledge, and sparked creativity through visits to iconic sites. At the Great Wall of China, they learned about ancient engineering and the spirit behind this monumental structure, gaining lessons in perseverance and heritage appreciation. The Olympic Park and Museum showcased China’s modern achievements and national pride. Exploring the Forbidden City brought imperial history to life, while visits to the Confucius Temple and National Imperial Academy deepened their appreciation of traditional Chinese philosophy, education, and values. These experiences encouraged thoughtful reflection on history, identity, and cultural expression.

🌍 Growing as Global Citizens
The journey inspired students to be open-minded, suspend judgment, and listen with empathy—key aspects of cultural intelligence. Through reflection and cultural immersion, they gained a deeper appreciation for diversity and their potential to make a positive impact as global citizens. Many described the experience as "eye-opening" and "inspiring," highlighting growth in independence, communication, and global awareness. Teachers observed increased confidence and adaptability, viewing the trip as a significant step toward nurturing compassionate, culturally aware future leaders.

During the first week of the June holidays, some of our Primary 5 students embarked on an exciting 5D4N overseas learning journey to Shanghai and Wuxi!

They explored historical and cultural sites such as Donglin Academy 东林书院, Three Kingdoms City 三国城, Huishan Clay Museum 惠山泥人博物馆, Nanchang Street 南长街, China Art Museum 中华艺术宫, and the Shanghai Natural History Museum 上海自然博物馆.

Together with students from Fern Green Primary School, our students had the special opportunity to interact and learn alongside peers from our Wuxi partner school, Wuxi Huishan Jinqiao Experimental School 无锡惠山金桥实验学校.

Beyond honing their Adaptive Thinking skills, this overseas experience helped our students strengthen their 21st Century Competencies, especially in Civic, Global, and Cross-Cultural Literacy. As they reflect on their journey and apply what they’ve learned, we’re confident they will grow as empowered individuals and future-ready leaders. 🌟🌍

🌍✈️ 2025 Overseas Learning Journey to Hong Kong
From 3 to 6 June, 16 of our Primary 5 Wellingtonians, together with students from Fern Green Primary School, embarked on a meaningful Overseas Learning Journey (OLJ) to Hong Kong! This collaboration between the two schools gave students a wonderful opportunity to build friendships and learn together while immersing themselves in Hong Kong’s rich history and vibrant culture.

One of the highlights of the trip was the visit to the Tai Po Food Centre, where students sampled authentic local cuisine. To reach the venue, they navigated the city using public transportation—including both the bus and the MTR, Hong Kong’s extensive train system. Travelling alongside locals gave students a unique, first-hand glimpse into the daily lives of Hong Kong residents.

Though the trip was brief, it was packed with valuable learning experiences. Students developed greater cultural awareness and empathy as they interacted with both their peers and friends they have made from students of the Tsang Mui Millennium School (TMMS).

They also discovered the importance of effective communication when engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds. These experiences helped nurture essential 21st-century competencies, empowering our students to become more globally literate and future-ready leaders. 🌟🌏
