🇧🇷One week, one incredible guest, and an unforgettable experience.

We spent the week learning from Luiz, a coffee producer from Brazil, as he walked us through the science of coffee fermentation at Bettr Academy.

From microbes to the invisible processes that shape flavour, it was a masterclass in everything that happens before coffee even reaches your cup.

Then we brought it all together at Passport Dinners: Brazil x Capricornio, where Luiz’s coffee met a full spread of Brazilian dishes, right here in Singapore.

Here’s a look back at the week that was.

🌱 Luiz is a coffee producer who truly inspired us this week.

He brought his experience from his farm in Brazil to our academy, and through him, we went deep into the science of coffee fermentation.

But more than the technical side, Luiz reminded us of something bigger: as consumers and as an industry, we still have so much work to do to truly understand and honour where our coffee comes from.

Thank you, Luiz, for sharing your knowledge and your story with us. We’re leaving this week a little more curious, and a lot more humbled.  P.S. We hope we get to visit your farm in Brazil one day!

What does it take to successfully transition from running a salon to managing a specialty coffee bar? Meet Fabien, Cafe Supervisor at Monday Coffee Bar.

Driven by a deep curiosity about the coffee industry, Fabien leveraged the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP) in 2024 to pivot his career entirely. Today, he combines his rich background in business and sales with his passion for specialty coffee.

Beyond the brew, Fabien’s favourite part of the job is the community—from the new connections made across the counter to the ongoing support from his trainers and friends at Bettr Academy.

Today, you can find Fabien running the show at Monday Coffee Bar, located at 209A Clementi Ave 6 (do take note that their Ang Mo Kio branch has closed). Come by, grab a brew, and say hello to him!

About SCTP

At Bettr Academy, our SCTP in Beverage Services is a 3-month programme. Upon completion, trainees will receive internationally-recognised certifications and have the necessary skill set that gives them a competitive edge to smoothly secure employment within F&B.
