💡Iteration ➡️ Innovation ➡️ Impact!💡

Our young innovators in the Innovation Programme (IvP) recently showcased their incredible projects at the annual IvP EXPO organised by the Science Department!

Using the Design Thinking framework, these creative minds stepped into the shoes of their users — empathising with their needs, brainstorming inventive solutions, and collaborating to build real-world prototypes. It wasn’t an easy ride!

From early sketches to functional models, our students went through many iterations, embracing the process of testing, failing forward, and refining their ideas with relentless resilience. 🛠️🔁

At the EXPO, students, teachers, school staff, and school leaders dropped by the booths to get hands-on with the prototypes and leave valuable feedback.

Huge congratulations to all our IvP participants for being thinkers who create value and for showing us what happens when empathy meets creativity and perseverance! 🎉👏

Congratulations to our ‘C’ Division Badminton team for winning the NSG League Two finals yesterday!

We have every reason to be proud of the boys, not only because they defeated Ngee Ann Secondary School decisively by a score of 4-1 but also because of the team spirit displayed. Those who were not playing cheered non-stop and it definitely helped boost the confidence of those playing.

Our gentlemen played with composure, were fluid in their movements and clinical in their shot-making. It was indeed a performance worthy of a League Two Champion!

🎥 Nurturing a Love for the Chinese Language

With the recent expansion of access to Higher Chinese, our gentlemen shared with Channel 8 (8world) their experiences of learning the language and what motivates them to continue developing their proficiency.

At ACS (Barker Road), we seek to recognise our gentlemen’s different strengths and interests, and support them in developing these strengths where appropriate.

Beyond mastering the language, the journey nurtures confidence, deepens their appreciation of the Chinese language and culture, and encourages them to take ownership of their learning as Stewards of Learning and Talent.

Thank you, Channel 8, for giving our teachers and gentlemen the opportunity to share their perspectives! 📚

Celebrating National Day 2026 at ACS(BR)✨🇸🇬

Our ACS(BR) community came together to celebrate Singapore’s 61st birthday under this year’s theme: “Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond!”

The morning began with an Observance Ceremony at the tennis courts, led by Parade Commander Sergeant Benjamin Tan Yan Xun of the National Police Cadet Corps. Our uniformed groups: NPCC, NCC (Sea), Boys’ Brigade and Scouts marched proudly to the accompaniment by our Concert Band.

We were privileged to welcome our Guest-of-Honour, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Lee, Deputy Director, Ministry of Defence: a distinguished alumnus and former Head Prefect to inspect the Guard-of-Honour contingent and share his insights with our gentlemen.

Over at the Concert Hall, students were led by our emcees through a meaningful programme, including the National Day Message by Minister for Education Mr Desmond Lee, a moving “Recollections” video honouring our nation’s journey, and an exciting “AC Got Talent Showcase” featuring our energetic and talented student performers. 🎤🎸

Our CCE Ambassadors also brought out the fun and competitive spirit with a lively National Day Trivia Quiz, testing students’ knowledge of Singapore’s history and heritage! 🧠🏆The quiz winners went home with prizes which included five stones, a skipping rope and capteh: a little throwback to the traditional games that have brought generations of Singaporeans joy!

The celebrations continued with beautiful performances by our Chinese Orchestra and Choir, a heartfelt community sing-along of beloved National Day songs, and a Prayer for the Nation and Benediction led by Reverend Gilbert Lok from Barker Road Methodist Church.

From the parade ground to the concert stage, we were reminded of our Singapore Spirit: the courage of those who came before us, and our shared responsibility to keep moving forward, together. 🌟🤝

Happy 61st Birthday, Singapore! Let’s continue to Majulah and Go Beyond! ❤️🇸🇬

When Textbooks Come Alive

As part of our Social Studies curriculum, some of our Sec 3 students had the privilege of meeting Mr Sarabjeet Singh, Singaporean of the Year 2019 finalist, to explore what it truly means to live in a diverse society.

Through Mr Sarabjeet’s sharing, our gentlemen gained a deeper understanding of the real impact of stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination on individuals and communities, and how one man’s response to a viral incident became a powerful lesson in bridging divides and building social harmony.

As an inclusive community in ACS, we are intentional about nurturing harmony, a core tenet in multi-racial Singapore.

Do you know what it takes to keep a water wheel spinning for 5 seconds? Our Secondary 2 students were determined to find out!

Armed with creativity, curiosity, and plenty of perseverance, our gentlemen collaborated in teams to design, build, test, and refine their own water wheels.

From experimenting with blade shapes and wheel sizes to adjusting the water flow and angle, every attempt brought new discoveries and exciting breakthroughs.

This challenge wasn’t just about reaching the 5-second mark — it was about thinking like engineers. Our budding thinkers applied scientific concepts such as energy transfer, forces, and motion, while developing essential 21st-century skills like teamwork, problem-solving, resilience, and innovation.

Every spin was a lesson. Every redesign was an opportunity to improve. And every success was a celebration of creativity and collaboration!
