Today is a different kind of day ~ Christmas came early and we had a lot of merry feasting and celebrating.

Over the weekend class, Cynthia reminded me I did not update my social media including my IG for a long time🤭
Oops, a month to another year so soon.
I repacked a box of 8s~ a flavour each, for my nieces to share. Thanks to the ladies who flavoured the divine macarons so beautifully ~ I hope you are enjoying them with your loved ones🥰

《Today's Facebook Memories》
As I get older, I reminisce about my crazy younger self ~ when I left a 14 yr pharmaceutical career to pursue a totally new skill set which kick started another 14 year journey in French pastries and baking. It was like a time travel from working in the regional office one week to my first baking class the next in Houston, Texas.
In the photo during my graduation with Chef Philippe and Wawa (娃娃),
a pastry "senior" half my age then. She is now a mother of one.

1. Wawa was half my age at the culinary school. 14year later, I am 50. How old is Wawa now? #😁
2. Chef P was 4mos younger than me. How old is the chef now? #🤔 #🤭

We painted a colourful weekend 2 wk ago with a full class.
Day 1 was very eventful😅 and look at Day 2, the class went on smoothly and even finished early, with beautiful macarons and faces beaming with pride

Do I miss our time at Owen Road? Honestly, I do, sometimes. I miss the interaction, the excitement of creating new flavours every wed and sat, the happy faces, the happy voices, the challenges of meeting demands and deadlines and fulfilling requests for special occasions. I miss our space where many friends and new friends gathered.
But almost immediately I shudder at the thought of the punishing hours, it was somehow exhilarating then, for now, no thanks🤣
The rainbow colour macaron mixture were done in prep for rainbow macaron packs for PCF rebranding to PCF Sparkletots on 15 Nov 2014.

Another weekend class with 3 pairs of friends, 2 cousins and 4 ex-strangers ... regardless of your motivation for learning, thank you for the happy vibes and for spending your precious weekend with us.
For a few of you baking your macarons at home soon, wishing you successful lovely bakes, and for some of you who baked your 1st and maybe last batch of macarons over the weekend in your lifetime, may you be always beaming with pride🥰🤭 For the gal who came to class because of her gf, yet knew her stuff through and through, may you be inspired to get an oven one day😘

I received a fb msg this afternoon and it made me smile widely (proudly indeed). Thank you for your good work Charis, and for sharing a lovely photo of your macarons!
Charis joined the macaron class on 3-4 Sep and had some prior experience baking macarons from youtube. It made me smile to see her first bake after class to gift her family, and her 13yo daughter helped to pipe the buttercream and assemble the macarons👏👏👏 Dont they look awesome?😊

The colours are back. They made us happy, and made us feel >normal again. (almost!)
The macarons need not be perfect, as long as you see the heart-work. I felt happy when I saw the smiles on the faces, it made your time and my time in class worth every bit.
In this class, we had a mother-daughter pair, sisters and sil, husband & wife, 2 young ladies in their mid 70s, strangers who worked together and some became friends. #♥️
