Play used to have a bad reputation. There were false misconceptions that when a child plays, he is not learning. There were false misconceptions that play and learning cannot go hand-in-hand.
The modern day parents and educators though, have come to understand that play in fact supports, enhances and empowers learning in young children. This has been consistently supported through various studies and researches.
Playful learning (or play-based learning) pedagogies naturally align with the characteristics that research in the science of learning suggests help humans learn.
In short, when play is incorporated into learning or when learning is made fun and playful, we learn better and absorb content and knowledge better! And this is especially critical in the early childhood setting.
