Rewinding to pre-ABP season, NTU took part in Diliman Pre-ABP ๐
NTU (th)A(nh looks different) (Lit Wen & Wayne) broke 3rd with a total of 12 points over the 5 rounds ๐ They ended their run in an impressive Finals, where Lit Wen was also awarded Finals Best Speaker ๐ Lit Wen & Wayne were also tied for 5th Best Open Speaker ๐
NTU (B)ro who is this white dude?? (Way De & Andy) broke 2nd with a total of 12 points as well โค๏ธโ๐ฅ They fought hard in a tough Semifinals, and Andy was awarded Best Open Speaker, while Way De was awarded 4th Best Open Speaker ๐ฅ๐ซ
Lastly, our composite team, Thanh & Naomi (NUS) broke 7th with a total of 11 points ๐ They ended their run in the Semifinals in what was a great tournament for the NTU contingent overall โญ๐ฅ

In the middle of the semester, NTU Debate Squad flew to Kuantan, Pahang to participate in Asian British Parliamentary 2025 ๐ฒ๐พ
NTU B (Way De & Andy) broke 10th with a total of 13 points ๐ฅณ They fought their way to the top and ended as OPEN CHAMPIONS ๐๐ Andy was also awarded Finals Best Speaker ๐ Way (haha) to go NTU B! โจ
NTU A (Lit Wen & Thanh) broke 2nd with a whopping 15 points ๐ฎโ๐จ They climbed their way to the Semifinals, where they eventually ended their run as Open Semifinalists in what was a heated round against our contingent-mates and NTU B ๐ฑ Thanh and Lit Wen were also awarded Best and 2nd Best Open Speakers respectively โค๏ธโ๐ฅ๐
NTU C (Cadence & Gillean) missed the breaks, ending on 9 points after many prayers ๐ฐ๐ While NTU D (Ish*ta & Zayd) ended on 6 points, making this a great ABP 2025 run ๐โค๏ธ

To kick off this yearโs BP season, NTU Debate Squad participated in Sunway Debate Open 2025โผ๏ธ We are happy to report that we achieved a full contingent break ๐ฅณ๐
In a composite team with Naomi, Lit Wen [imported talent ๐ฉ๏ธ] broke 2nd with a total of 12 points ๐ They fought hard and ultimately ended as the Open Finalists of the competition ๐คฉ
In another composite team with Jovan, Way De [2 Clowns ๐คก] broke 3rd with a total of 12 points as well ๐ฅ Way De was also the 7th best speaker of the tournament ๐ The team climbed their way to the Semifinals, where they eventually ended their run as Open Semifinalists ๐ข
And finally, Cadence and Gillean [Rezen Select Hotel Smoking Corner ๐ซฉ] broke 4th in the Novice category with 7 points ๐ฃ๏ธ Additionally, Cadence broke as the 7th best novice speaker of the competition as well ๐คฏ The team made a great showing in the outround, and ended as Novice Finalists ๐โค๏ธ

In July, NTU Debate Squad flew to Guangzhou, China (again) to participate in the Australasian Inter-varsity Debate Championship 2025 ๐จ๐ณ๐ฅโ๏ธ
NTU A (Way De, Thanh and Lit Wen) fought well in the inrounds, breaking 12th of the 49 teams on 5 wins out of the 8 roundsโผ๏ธ๐ After a tough battle, they ended their run as quarterfinalists ๐๐
NTU B (Cadence, Gillean and Ish*ta) also made a commendable effort during the inrounds, marking their first Australs as freshies ๐๐ฅณ

NTU A (Kayboon, Thanh and Lit Wen) broke 4th this year on 6 wins out of the 8 rounds ๐ They fought valiantly and ultimately ended their run in the semifinals against our contingent-mates in ๐ข
NTU B (Eunice, Cadence and Ish*ta) and NTU C (Xiye, Gillean and Caleb) ended on 4 and 3 points respectively, making it a commendable first run at a major tournament for our freshies ๐๐ฅ

Before AP season, NTUโs Lit Wen teamed up with โs Justin and flew to Malaysia to compete in IIUM Open 2024 this February! ๐ฒ๐พ๐
We are proud to announce that after 4 rounds, Lit Wen and Justin [(t)ayy thatโs lit] broke 5th out of 56 teams in the Open category, ultimately becoming Champions of the tournament ๐๐ฅณ๐
Additionally, Lit Wen and Justin both tied for 5th best speaker of the entire tournament ๐

Our debaters participated in Shanghai International Debating Championships 2024 where Wayne and Thanh broke 6th out of 89 teams ๐ซก
The dynamic duo walked away from the tournament as the Grand Champions with Wayne as the Finals Best Speaker ๐
Wayne also ranked as the 5th Best Speaker while Thanh ranked as the 7th Best Speaker of the tournament ๐ฅณ

In early December, NTU Debate Squad hosted a freshman internal debate tournament for our freshmen who have trained hard this past semester, to compete against one anotherโก It was a day filled with lots of fun exchanges, thought-provoking feedback and fiery speeches ๐ฅ After three gruelling preliminary rounds, we had our top four teams debate against each other in the finals to fight for the spot of Champions. On a 4-1 split, our new freshie internals champions are Gillean and Vivien with the finals best speaker being awarded to Abhijith ๐ฅณ Congratulations to all speakers below for their achievements! ๐ย
