Hello everyone!

Thank you for sending in all your compositions and practice papers for marking this season. While you are in the midst of revision, do remember to contact us to ensure there is enough time for your work to be marked and returned. Typically I need two to three working days to complete a proper marking package. So, take a look at your schedule, I don't wish to disappoint any of you looking for a review of your work.

In the meanwhile, drink more water, sleep well, and work smart! Learning is for a lifetime, not only during the examination season.

Learning Principles Remain The Same

A group of nine-year-olds surprised me in the course of this semester, as we worked on language play using a variety of books, stories, and storytelling resources. What intrigued me was how they were able to pick up nuances in language use, such as understanding metaphors, without excessive explicit teaching. Immersion in a rich and stimulating language environment has proven to be the best way to get young learners started on any language of their choice.

In one of our sessions together, the students attempted generating metaphors of their own. No Google, no ChatGPT, no standard answer sheets. Just the students, a short story we had read together showing samples of metaphor expressions, and our brains put together to explore endless possibilities. Amazing synergy!

All of us should structure regular intervals for a digital detox and to get back to basics.

As a teacher who has worked in both public and private education settings, life as an educator can sometimes be a drag. What will happen in tomorrow's lesson? Can this student get more motivation from the material I would like to share with him? Why does this student make the same mistakes across assignments? How do I communicate better with her? Doubt can cross my mind easily, when I'm not sure if I am truly helping my students (and their trusted adults).

Hence, whenever students and their trusted adults contact Get It Right more than once, to enquire about the assistance they can possibly receive, I am more than happy to answer these queries. The sense of familiarity pops up to brighten my day, and to motivate Get It Right on its journey as an education provider.
