K1 Racial Harmony Day Craft – Lantern Sun Catcher
This week, our K1 children celebrated Racial Harmony Day by creating colorful Lantern Sun Catchers. They carefully selected and pasted vibrant pieces of translucent paper to decorate their lanterns, strengthening their fine motor skills, creativity and hand-eye coordination.
Through this hands-on activity, the children learnt that lanterns are used during festivals and celebrations in different cultures, helping them appreciate Singapore's rich multicultural heritage.
We are proud of their beautiful creations and the enthusiasm they showed as they learnt about respecting and celebrating our diverse community.

Animal Sponge Painting: A Fun and Creative Way to Build Early Learning Skills

🐘 Animal Sponge Painting 🦁🐻
Today, our little ones enjoyed an Animal Sponge Painting activity! Using sponge dabbers, the infants explored painting on different animal templates, strengthening their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and grip control while discovering colours through creative play.
This hands-on sensory experience encouraged the children to explore cause and effect, develop their focus and concentration and express themselves through art. Each child painted at their own pace, building confidence and enjoying the process of creating their unique animal masterpiece.
🏡 Home Extension:
Invite your child to continue the fun at home by using a sponge, cotton ball, or kitchen sponge to dab paint (or even water) onto paper. Talk about the different animals, the colours they are using, and the sounds each animal makes (e.g., "The elephant goes trumpet!", "The lion goes roar!"). This helps to build your child's language, vocabulary, and early cognitive development through meaningful play.

This week, our K1 children explored the delicious variety of Singapore's local ethnic food.
They identified and named familiar dishes such as nasi lemak, chicken rice, nasi briyani, murukku and curry puffs through a fun matching activity, while learning about Singapore's multicultural food heritage.
The children then drew their favourite local food and completed the sentence, "I like to eat __." This activity provided meaningful practice in speaking, reading and early writing, while encouraging the children to express their personal preferences with confidence.

This week, our K2 children explored Singapore's iconic places and things. They learnt interesting facts about well-known landmarks and national icons such as Marina Bay Sands, the Merlion, Gardens by the Bay, the Singapore Flyer, Changi Airport, the Esplanade, and other symbols that make Singapore unique.
Each child chose an iconic place or thing to colour, read about, and complete a simple writing activity.
Through this activity, the children strengthened their reading, handwriting, sentence construction, and comprehension skills while developing a deeper appreciation for Singapore's rich heritage and identity. They also enjoyed sharing interesting facts about their chosen iconic place or thing with their classmates.

Our N1 friends were introduced to Oscar Orange as part of their literacy learning. The children identified and recognized Oscar Orange, practiced saying its sound /o/, and named familiar objects that begin with the same sound.
To extend their learning, they used playdough to form the letter shape O, reinforcing both the visual recognition and the phonetic sound. As they rolled, shaped, and repeated the sound, the children strengthened fine motor skills, phonemic awareness, and early literacy foundations in a joyful, hands‑on way.
