Keeping the attention of students in class in an age-old problem that teachers face๐ค By the time we wait for written tests to assess a student's understanding of the topic, precious time and learning opportunities are wasted.
But with Kagan structures, teachers find that they can immediately assess if their students understood what was taught! Every day can be filled with learning and growth. With Kagan, no student is left behind ๐ช๐

Singapore Edumatrix pays tribute to the inspiring School Leaders and innovative Staff of Lianhua Primary School who brought to meaningful fruition a morning of discovery for P1 students and their parents on the demands of a P1 classroom.
Singapore Edumatrix sparked some ideas on building and strengthening Executive Function in a one-day workshop in November 2023 and we are amazed at staff commitment and painstaking preparation to produce lots of practice-activities in Organisation Skills and Cognitive Flexibility.
As Parents and their P1 kids moved seamlessly from one station to another completing activities ranging from packing school bags, morning routine preparation for school, to making friends etc., it is evident that the school has not only primed their students for early success but also mitigated some problems that could arise from poorly-developed Executive Function.
For sure, Singapore Edumatrix witnessed the authentic way in which the school was able to secure parentsโ buy-in for a joint-ownership for their childrenโs development in a fun, delightful, practical, and caring way!

Struggling to keep the attention of students in class? Notice that your studentsโ social skills have taken a hit with the overwhelming presence of isolating technology?
Worry no more! Kagan workshops are specially designed to answer all these problems and more (and we so happen to offer it here at Singapore EduMatrix๐)!!
But what is Kagan?! Kagan workshops are all about ENGAGEMENT! ๐กThese workshops were developed based on a research program conducted by Dr. Spencer Kagan, world renowned author and keynote speaker in the field of education and psychology, beginning in 1968. The goal is to improve the quality of educational methods which would then accelerate cooperative learning and enrichment for students. And so over the past decades, Dr. Kagan and his team have developed and perfected over 200 world-famous Kagan Structures which are simple, research-based and tested strategies which:
- Boost students' achievement levels
- Guarantee interactive, action-oriented learning experiences
- Motivate student to learn (even the boring stuff)
- Improve collaborative classroom spirit
- Promote self-directed work in class
- Reduce discipline problems
- Turnaround difficult students
- Teach social skills and build self-esteem and
- Make teaching and learning FUN!๐
The biggest difference between the Kagan approach and teaching through traditional methods is the ability to engage every student using these Kagan structures. In a traditional classroom, the teacher is the hardest worker in the room! But with the simple tools provided in the Kagan approach, teachers can easily capture the focus of all students and get them to be actively involved in their own learning. ๐คฉ
Kagan workshops specialises in the following key topics - Active Engagement, Cooperative Learning, Multiple Intelligences, Win-Win Discipline and Brain-Friendly Instruction.
Singapore Edumatrix is the Exclusive Provider of Kagan USA Workshops in Singapore with access to franchised Kagan course materials and tools. We will be announcing a new Kagan Workshop offering in early 2024 for all you interested educators!

Mrs. Nirmala Ayadurai, affectionately known as Ms. Mala, is the co-founder and director of Singapore Edumatrix. She initially built a successful career in the field of radiography, rising up the ranks to become the Head of Department of Radiology at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. However, she was passionate about making a difference in peopleโs lives through teaching and learning and decided to make a major career pivot and use her own coaching and leadership experience to guide and empower a new generation of educators and leaders. Teaming up with her sister, Mrs. Das then became a no-brainer as they launched Singapore EduMatrix in 2015. ๐ก
Always ready with a warm smile and a 'can-do' spirit, Ms. Mala equipped herself with the relevant certifications to ensure that she delivers the best possible lessons for her participants to reap the greatest benefit. She is a Certified International Kagan Trainer, Certified John Maxwell Leadership Coach and Trainer and Certified Executive Function Trainer! Some of her most memorable experiences were made during her overseas coaching trips in the most diverse cultures like in Macau, Dhaka, Himachal Pradesh, Hong Kong and Cambodia. She feels most proud when the participants share hearty positive feedback that she has made a difference in their lives and they eagerly ask for more follow up sessions to further enrich their learning journey. ๐ค๐
