When Bellies Speak is a community art project conceived by Dana Lam. It seeks to share in the joy of making and invites you to re-evaluate the part of the body that is mostly disdained. Your fleshly belly is transformed into an aesthetic object in a matter of minutes. The casts are used for an installation at Hong Lim Park on 8 March in honor of each of our lives and the lives of women. Get your belly cast and join in the affirmation of lives. WHO IS THE PROJECT FOR?

• Women, their families & communities

• Individuals curious about contemporary art practices

• Individuals wishing to honour the women in their lives this International Womens' Day, 8 March 2015 & the 50th anniversary of Singapore

OPTIONS AVAILABLE. FREE OF CHARGE

a) Belly-Casting workshops
For those who are able to make the scheduled timing, the workshops are 1.5 hr each. Participants engage in discussions and may try their hands at casting. Arrangements may be made to accommodate any number from 10 to 25 at a time. b) When Belly Speaks Pop-up Stations
Where appropriate, I am happy to set up a belly- casting station say from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m. when your members or friends may pop in to have their bellies cast. The casting takes only a matter of minutes. c) Parent-child belly casting workshops
Younger girls who wish to participate could join in these parent-child sessions. The objective here, in addition to what is outlined in the project, is to engender parent-child connection. These could be conducted in a school on a weekend or at a parent's home where convenient.
