A Hackathon Aboard the R/V OceanXplorer

Eight students from the School of Informatics & IT’s Diploma in Immersive Media & Game Development (IGD) and the Diploma in Applied AI (AAI) participated in the OceanX Portside Hackathon between 12 to 13 March 2026. The event took place aboard the R/V OceanXplorer at Keppel Marina and offered a unique out of class learning experience for students. During the two-day hackathon, students worked in interdisciplinary teams to explore how technologies such as AI, interactive media, simulation, and game design can be used to communicate ideas related to ocean science and exploration.

The hackathon provided an opportunity for students to learn through collaboration, experimentation, and mentorship. They were challenged to think creatively about how immersive storytelling, digital media, and AI can help increase public understanding of ocean science and environmental sustainability. Experiences such as this help students see how their technical and creative skills can contribute positively and meaningfully to addressing global challenges.

Temasek Polytechnic Signs MOU with Snowflake

We are pleased to announce that Temasek Polytechnic’s School of Informatics & IT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Snowflake to strengthen the data and AI capabilities through the Diploma in Big Data & Analytics.

This collaboration will provide students and educators with access to industry-relevant tools, training, and resources to support the development of real-world data and AI skills.

Through this partnership:
• Faculty will be encouraged to pursue professional training and certification, including the SnowPro Associate Certification.
• Students will gain opportunities to build practical data and AI competencies.
• Educators will have free access to the Snowflake platform through managed lab environments.
• Teaching resources such as curriculum materials, slides, and exercises will be provided.
• Snowflake educational materials will be incorporated into relevant modules.
• Instructional and applied research activities using the Snowflake platform will be supported.

This partnership reflects Temasek Polytechnic’s commitment to preparing students with the skills needed for the evolving data and AI-driven economy.

Empowering our seniors in the digital world! 👵👴🛡️

On 8 Feb 2026, about 20 student volunteers from IITSC stepped up as tech mentors at the Cyber Safety & Digital Skills Workshop for Seniors held at Our Tampines Hub (OTH).

The event was graced by Guest of Honour Dr Koh Poh Koon, MP for Tampines GRC. The workshop focused on empowering the silver generation to navigate the digital world with confidence and stay safe online. Our students provided personalised, one-on-one guidance, helping seniors with smartphone navigation and—most importantly—practical scam prevention tips to protect themselves in today’s digital landscape 🔐✨.

Through this meaningful service-learning experience, our students applied their technical skills beyond the classroom, creating real impact by building a more digitally resilient and inclusive community. Seeing knowledge translate into confidence for our seniors made the day especially rewarding.

In early January this year, Hee Jian Feng from our Diploma in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics witnessed an incident involving a violation of personal privacy in a public place. He promptly alerted the affected individual and took responsible action to help address the situation.

Demonstrating courage, quick thinking and strong civic values, Jian Feng’s actions helped ensure that the matter was properly handled, contributing to the safety and well-being of our community. We are incredibly proud of Jian Feng for stepping up and doing the right thing.

With aspirations to join a law enforcement agency in the future, Jian Feng has shown that he embodies the qualities of integrity, responsibility, and service — truly a champion for good in our community.
