“I’ll see you at the white piano!” It is a simple phrase, but one that reflects how deeply music can become part of a space, and a community.

In 2007 a white piano was placed in the atrium of Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Over time, it became something familiar, a quiet meeting point, a place where moments were shared, and where many found a brief pause in the day. Patients, visitors, and staff have all spent time around it. Some played. Some listened.

In 2024, as part of Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s 180th Founder’s Day, that story continues with the donation of a brand new grand piano upgrading the older grand to the current Kayserburg GH160 Heritage Series - in white of course.

The piano remains where it has always been. Open to those who wish to share their love for music.

At Cristofori Music, our mission has always been to bring the joy of music into every home. Supporting TTSH’s efforts was a natural extension of that heart. We are honored to play a part in filling these halls with music, providing a space for healing and harmony through the power of music.

The pace of modern life is no longer measured in time, but in attention. In a single day, we reach for our phones more times than we realise. And increasingly, so do our children. Studies today show that many children are already exceeding recommended screen time limits, often by a wide margin.

It is not just about how long they spend on screens. It is about what replaces the time that used to build something deeper. Focus. Patience. The ability to listen.

These are not traits children are born with. They are developed slowly, through experiences that require effort, attention, and presence.

Music is one of the few places where this still happens. To sit at an instrument. To listen before playing. To repeat, refine, and improve. To stick with something, even when it is not easy.

We do not simply teach students how to play. We guide them through structured lessons, one that builds attention, discipline, and the ability to engage with something fully.

In such a fast paced city we live in, what children need most may not be more distractions but someone that listens.

Every performance tells a story. Over the past 3 days at the Oxygen Music Festival 2026, over 350 young musicians stepped onto stage, each with their own journey, preparation, and courage.

Congratulations to all our Platinum and Gold award recipients, on your performances and well-deserved recognition. To every other participant, your willingness to step forward, to perform, and to share your music marks a meaningful achievement.

Beyond the awards, what truly matters is the experience gained, the ability to step onto a stage, to perform, and to continue growing from it.

Planning to visit the Oxygen Music Festival 2026? Here is a simple guide to help you make the most of the 3-day experience. Across multiple venues, the festival brings together performances, workshops, and the final awards ceremony!

On 1 and 2 May, qualifier performances will be held at both Bishan Junction 8 Rooftop and Bechstein Music World, with free admission for the public. Throughout these two days, workshops will also be running (FREE for all participants), offering students a place to learn, develop, and refine their craft, outside of their usual classes.

On 3 May, the festival concludes with the Final Day Award Ceremony and Winner Performances. This is where selected participants return to the stage!

Whether you are coming to support a participant, explore music learning opportunities, or simply experience live performances in a different setting, there is something happening across all three days.

“Exam model piano must be 121cm”, this is one of the most common things we hear. But in reality, there is no official definition. There is no such thing as an exam-model piano.

Major exam boards do not specify height or model, a 114cm upright would perform as well too. What they assess is far more important, your control, tone, and consistency.

A properly crafted and well-maintained instrument will always support learning better than one chosen purely based on size. While taller uprights can offer greater resonance, height alone does not determine how a piano performs.

Choosing the right piano is not about just blindly following a label. It is about understanding what truly supports your development and needs.

From 3–5 April 2026, hundreds of students took part in the Crescendo Student Recital 2026, coming together across multiple outlets to perform, experience, and grow.

For many, it was their first time on stage. For others, it was another step forward in their journey. But for every student, it was a moment that mattered. Because beyond learning notes and passing exams, music is about expressing something of their own.

At Cristofori Music School, these opportunities are not occasional. They are part of how we teach, how we guide, and how we help every student grow.
