37 of our Primary 5 students recently returned from an unforgettable immersion trip to Jakarta, Indonesia! This wasn't just a travel experience—it was a learning journey of growth, curiosity, and cultural discovery.
To maximise their learning, our students adopted a powerful active-learning framework:
🧠 Before the trip: Know & Wonder – Setting intentions and questions.
👀 During the trip: Observe, Ask & Think – Engaging deeply with their surroundings.
💡 After the trip: Reflect & Use – Bringing their insights home to Xingnan!
By stepping out of their comfort zones, our young ambassadors gained insights across three key areas:
🎨 Culture & Identity expressed through Art: At the Textile Museum, students tried their hand at traditional batik painting, discovering how a nation's history and values are woven into its art. They expanded this cultural appreciation at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, exploring the rich diversity of Indonesian traditions and performances.
🌱 Sustainable Living & Agriculture: Visits to Godong Ijo and Kuntum Farmfield & Nurseries opened their eyes to regional connections. Students observed how different communities care for plants and animals, sparking ideas on how we can practise sustainable living back home.
🏫 Global Friendship & Citizenship: During their school immersion at Santa Laurensia Elementary School, our P5s confidently represented Singapore, sharing what makes our home unique while listening carefully and showing immense curiosity toward their hosts' school life.
By practising active listening, keeping an open mind, and asking thoughtful questions, our students didn't just see Jakarta—they truly understood it. We are so proud of how they practised our core school values during the trip and grew into independent, confident global citizens!

A Day of Joy, Leadership and Intergenerational Connections!
On Wednesday, 20 May 2026, our Prefects' EXCO members and selected Primary 6 students collaborated with Secondary 3 student leaders from Juying Secondary School for the Act.Care.Transform. (A.C.T.) Carnival at Juying Secondary School. As the highlight of the Joyful ConneXioN Intergenerational Collaboration Programme 2026, this event provided our students with a meaningful platform to grow as Compassionate Leaders.
The carnival provided an enriching service-learning experience designed to engage seniors and support their physical and cognitive well-being while fostering empathy in our students. To bring this vision to life, our students created five fantastic game booths: Guess the Card: A lively memory game where students enthusiastically cheered the seniors on. Mini Bowling: Seniors tested their physical coordination, knocking down pins to thunderous applause. Pin the Tail on a Donkey: A nostalgic classic where students gently guided blindfolded seniors, resulting in bursts of shared laughter. Skee-Ball: A high-energy game where seniors skillfully rolled balls up ramps while students eagerly kept score. Cup Tic-Tac-Toe: A strategic game that kept the seniors’ minds active and everyone on the edge of their seats.
It was deeply heartwarming to watch the interactions unfold. The elderly guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Many seniors shared that the vibrant energy of the youths made them feel incredibly young, while our students gained deep empathy from the life experiences shared by their new friends.

Our P3 students entered a magical world where imagination reigns and dreams take flight! They were treated to a visually stunning production of Roald Dahl's ‘The Big Friendly Giant’ at the Esplanade — brought to life by the Royal Shakespeare Company (the brilliant minds behind Matilda the Musical and My Neighbour Totoro), Chichester Festival Theatre, and the Roald Dahl Story Company.
Making its first and only international stop outside the United Kingdom right here in Singapore, this was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Watching beloved characters leap off the page and onto the stage left our students utterly spellbound. The wide eyes and expressions of pure wonder said it all.
A heartfelt thank you to the management of Keppel Nights for making this possible through their generous partnership with our school.

Our Primary 4 students recently stepped out of the classroom and into the galleries for their annual Museum-Based Learning (MBL) experience at the National Gallery Singapore.
Through guided discussions, close observation, and interactive activities, students explored how artworks can tell stories, express emotions, and reflect different experiences and perspectives. Themes such as family, culture, community, and imagination came alive as students engaged thoughtfully with the artworks around them.
With their MBL booklets in hand, students documented observations, posed curious questions, and exchanged ideas with their peers along the way. More than just a gallery visit, the experience encouraged our students to slow down, look closely, think critically, and connect personally with art in meaningful ways.

We were thrilled to welcome 35 students, 3 teachers and the school leaders from Santa Laurensia Elementary School, Indonesia, for our annual Friendship Beyond Borders Programme from 20–22 April!
Over three memorable days, our P5 student buddies warmly hosted our international guests, forging new friendships while sharing the everyday school experiences — from exploring our campus to enjoying recess together and immersing themselves in the vibrant Xingnan culture.
The programme became a meaningful exchange of cultures and perspectives as our guests delivered an absolutely captivating presentation and performance revolving around Maluku Island that left our students in awe — from the island's rich culture and cuisine to its agriculture and stunning art forms.
On the final day, handmade gifts were exchanged and heartfelt farewells were shared — a beautiful reminder that the bonds formed across borders are ones that truly last.
Friendships forged. Cultures celebrated. Memories made.

Our Primary 6 students had an exciting hands-on experience at the Science Centre Singapore, designing and testing their own structures while exploring concepts like friction, balance, and stability.
They even stepped into the shoes of engineers by discovering how real-world structures are built to withstand extreme conditions like earthquakes - bringing Science to life beyond the classroom!

Discovering Seed Dispersal — One Station at a Time!
Our Primary 5 students explored seed dispersal through engaging, hands-on learning stations that sparked curiosity and excitement.
From coconuts that travel by water to explosive seed action using balloons, students discovered how different seeds disperse in nature through fun and interactive experiences.
Learning truly comes alive when students collaborate, explore, and discover together!
