Tantrums, "No!", and Big Emotions? They are all part of growing up.
We view behaviours not as problems to fix but as windows into a childโ€™s developmental journey.

From wanting to โ€œdo it myselfโ€ to being fascinated by the smallest details, children between the ages of 1 to 6 are simply discovering the world, testing their independence, and learning how to navigate big feelings.

Through our calm, prepared environments and respectful guidance, we support each childโ€™s growth with patience and understanding, the Montessori way.
๐Ÿ’› Every behaviour is a message. Letโ€™s listen, guide, and grow together.

Children are more willing to try new things when they feel safe.๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

We approach mealtimes the same way we approach learning, with patience, observation, and respect for each childโ€™s independence.

Rather than rushing or insisting, our educators model calm behaviour, give children time, and allow them to explore food at their own pace. This helps build confidence, self-regulation, and a healthier relationship with eating over time. ๐ŸŒฑ

Small shifts in how we respond can make a big difference to how children feel about trying new things, both at the table and beyond.

In Part 2 of The Brighton Experience: Words from the Heart, more parents and K2 graduates share the moments that truly shaped their journey with us at Brighton Montessori. ๐ŸŒฟ

Their reflections speak of small victories, growing confidence, and the quiet, meaningful moments where a child feels safe, seen, and supported, and begins to discover who they are.

These stories remind us of the beauty of the Montessori journey and the impact of nurturing, child-led learning.

Thank you to our families for opening your hearts and sharing your experiences with us. ๐Ÿค

A celebration filled with colour, culture and joyful discoveries. ๐Ÿงงโœจ

Across our centres at Hillview and Harbourfront, our children welcomed Chinese New Year through meaningful, hands-on experiences. From festive games and cultural crafts to shared laughter and bright smiles, every moment was thoughtfully prepared to deepen their understanding of the tradition.

Through art, storytelling and collaborative activities, they explored the symbols and stories behind the celebration while building creativity, focus and confidence along the way.

A beautiful start to the Year of the Horse, celebrated together as a community. ๐ŸŽโค๏ธ

โ€œBefore I step in, I observe how the child communicates, concentrates, and works through challenges.โ€ โœจ

At Brighton Montessori, observation always comes before instruction. Our educators take time to understand each childโ€™s ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ, ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐Ÿ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฌ before offering guidance. ๐Ÿค

By allowing children to try things for themselves first, we nurture confidence, resilience, and a genuine love for learning. ๐ŸŒฑ When support is needed, it is intentional, minimal, and carefully timed, so independence remains at the heart of the learning experience.

Thoughtful observation is how we honour each childโ€™s natural learning journey. ๐ŸŒˆHow do you honour your childโ€™s natural learning journey?

Start with connection, not correction.

We donโ€™t believe in shouting over children to be heard. Instead, we guide them through presence, respect, and calm consistency, just like we do in our Montessori classrooms every day.

โœจ From getting on their level to keeping instructions short and clear, these 5 tips can help you build stronger communication and trust with your child. ๐Ÿ‘ถBecause listening is a learned skill and it starts with us.

Here are some of our favourite books that spark curiosity, strengthen early language, and create meaningful reading moments with young children.

Each title supports a different area of development, whether it is sequencing, phonetic awareness, real-world discovery, or quiet bonding time.

These stories are simple, rhythmic, and visually rich, which makes them perfect for young readers who are beginning to make sense of patterns, sounds, and the world around them.

We hope this list inspires families to enjoy more shared reading at home and build a love for books that grows with your child. ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

Our Story

At Brighton Montessori, we believe that every child is unique and we celebrate that. We understand that every child learns differently, and at his or her own pace.

Brighton Montessori's curriculum was uniquely designed to cater to each individual child's needs. Following the philosophy of Maria Montessori, Brighton Montessori adapted the hands on learning approach and one to one teaching approach through concrete to abstract methods to help each child grow to their full potential.

Our environment is designed with careful attention to the little details, to engage the little ones to explore, play and learn.

A great deal of thought was put into personalising our schools to complement our daily activities and encourage children to participate. Our classrooms are made to accentuate the Montessori experience, to create a conducive environment for children to learn, play, explore and express themselves freely.
