Talking about supporting youth through mentoring. Thanks to MENDAKI Club, ( a community of Malay/Muslim young professionals and students who are engaged in general affairs concerning the community, Singapore and the world.) I recently designed and facilitated a half day workshop - "Play2 Resilience" for teenagers and their mentors using Lego Serious Play and Enneagram.
Through sharing their strengths through LSP, participants learn how to confidently articulate what they are good at. The online Enneagram Personality Assessment Test and activities that followed offered them insights on their mental model and helped them identify areas of growth.

The city of Malacca is rich in both its history and food culture. One famous dish is called, "luk-Luk" where various ingredients are dipped into thick peanut gravy. This was what we had during our last Enneagram Connections workshop at Malacca over the last weekend.
A few interesting facts about this 7th run of the part 1 of The Enneagram Connections :
1) We had two young adults who came all the way from Batam, Indonesia.
2) Enneagram Asia partnered with TzuChi Melaka in running this workshop.
3) The youngest participant was a 14 year old girl ! She could relate with her Enneagram Personality when we touched on the Type 5 (The Investigator). She could also resonate to how she so automatically used her Defense Mechanism of "Isolation" to block off her feelings due to her experiences of her interactions with people around her.
Thanks to TzuChi Melaka Vuthy Taing for making this happen. See you again in July at Kuala Lumpur for the 8th run .

Conducted a workshop for 300 secondary 3 students at River Valley High School last week. The topic was, "Play2 Success - Managing Emotions". One lovely student presented me with a drawing. I asked her where she saw the three strands of hair? All burst into laughter.
We taught the students effective tools to be more self-aware of their strong emotions and simple strategies to manage it. The four messages for our future leaders (these students) are:
1) Our emotions serve a purpose.
2) There is no right/wrong emotions. Only useful or not so useful emotions.
3) Learn to articulate our strong emotions and seek support.
4) Practice body awareness and breathing exercise to better manage our strong emotions.
Also want to thank the teachers and leaders at RVHS for their dedication and compassion.

Last week, we shared with about 100 undergraduate students from Universitas International Batam, Indonesia on the topic of how understanding and working on ourselves (Enneagram) can help us become a more self-aware and grounded person. And as a result, we are in a better position to empathize and work through challenges in our love relationships. Several great questions were posted and below are three take aways from this workshop.
1) In a love relationship, there is no "best" mix of Enneagram types. Focus on being aware of our types and working on ourselves is more important than a "mix and match" approach.
2) Enneagram helps us understand why people are so unlike us. 3) 3) It also show us how we can work towards meeting our partners at mid-point. Thanks to all wonderful participants.

Friends asked how come we have some many young adults participants in "The Enneagram Connections" program we conduct in Malaysia?

Answer: Parents attend this program with their teenage/young adult children in order to understand them for who they really are.

Thanks to Vuthy Taing and many others who made the third run of the first part of "The Enneagram Connections" a reality.

Always enjoyed the warmth, generosity and kindness of participants from Malaysia. See you all on the 2-3 Nov for part three in KL.

Healing relationship starts with knowing ourselves. And The Enneagram is one great tool to deep dive into our unconscious patterns of thinking, feelings and reactivity in lives.
Change doesn't come after attending "The Enneagram Connections" program. That is why we have group/one on one coaching sessions to support participants internalize and apply what they have learned in their daily lives.
See the sharing by one of our participants, Vanessa who is only in her early twenties.

If this is what a 16 year old realized from attending the Part 1 of "The Enneagram Connections" program conducted at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We wonder why aren't we teaching this knowledge to polytechnic and University students? Looking forward to conducting the first run of Part 2 of "The Enneagram Connections" program in Malaysia next week.
