今天是2024年的最后一天，也是《小故事大智慧》在这平台的最后一天，感谢大家这么多年陪伴着我度过一起成长的岁月，天下没不散的宴席，我也已到了功成身退的时候。在新的一年开始，Eric 会为大家提供焕然一新的信息与大家共享，敬请期待哦。若有朋友把阅读小故事当成了一种习惯，可以在脸书点赞《小故事大智慧》，我还是会为大家提供有趣的小故事。希望再与大家见面时，可别忘了我哦！

一风烛残年的老者，执杖上山，向星月禅师请教：如何才能延年益寿、返老还童、长生不老。星月禅师向他敬了一杯清茶，就带他下山了，直接来到一个大型的剧场，观看一场非常感人也非常悲壮的传统剧目。雷鸣般的掌声里，剧目终于落下了帷幕，许多人被感动得泪流满面。星月禅师问身边的老者：“该剧如何？”“太好了，太感人了，太圆满了！”老者激动得一连串地说。“但是，”星月禅师微笑着说，“这出戏如果接着演下去，无休无止地演下去，你认为如何？”“这样就很圆满了，再演下去反而拖沓了。”老者非常投入地说，”什么戏也得有个结尾，哪有无休无止地演下去的道理？”
“如此说来，人生不也是这样吗？”星月禅师依然微笑着说。
人生就是一场戏，这出戏的精彩与否，不在于剧目的长短，不在于舞台的优劣，而在于剧情的演绎和结局的圆满。

An old man was holding his stick up the mountain to ask Master Xingyue for advice: how to prolong life, rejuvenate, and live forever. Zen Master Xingyue offered him a cup of tea, then took him down the mountain and went directly to a large theater to watch a very moving and very tragic traditional play. With thunderous applause, the repertoire finally came to an end, and many people were moved to tears. Zen Master Xingyue asked the old man next to him, "How about the play?" "It's great, so touching, so complete!" The old man said excitedly. "But," said Zen Master Xingyue with a smile, "what do you think of this play if it continues to be performed endlessly?" "It will be procrastinated if it continues." The old man was very engaged and said, "Any play has to have an end, how can there be any reason to play it endlessly?" "So, isn't life like this?" Zen Master Xingyue still smiled and said.
Life is a play. Whether the play is wonderful, it does not depends on the length of the play, the pros and cons of the stage, but the interpretation of the plot and the success of the ending.

小老鼠看到燕子在天空中自由自在地飞翔，很羡慕。有一次，老鼠碰到一只刚会飞的小燕子，便问它是怎么学会飞翔的？小燕子告诉它只要天天练，不怕跌，总会飞的。从此老鼠便胸怀飞天志，刻苦练习跳跃，然后站在高墙上跳跃，跌得断腿重伤。小燕子来看它，它气愤地指燕子是大骗子。小燕子又好气又好笑地说：“你没有翅膀怎么会飞呢？你不是会打洞吗？还是发挥你的特长吧！”
每个人的兴趣、爱好、天赋各有差异，一味模仿别人，只会一事无成。做自己喜欢的事，才能创造出生命的价值。

Great wisdom stories

A little mouse saw the swallows flying freely in the sky and was very envious. On one occasion, the mouse met a young swallow which just mastered its flying skills and asked it how it manage to learn flying? The swallow replied that as long as to practice every day and not afraid to fall, the flying skill can be mastered eventually. Since then, the mouse determined to learn flying and practice hard in jumping. It even stood high on the wall and then jumped down from height. Unfortunately, he fell down and suffered from leg injuries. The swallow came and visited the mouse and the mouse scolded it angrily as a big liar. The swallow said, "How could you possibly fly without wings? Why not you can make use of your ability of burrowing as your specialty?"

Everyone's interests, hobbies, talents varies and do not blindly imitate others. Do the things that we are interested in and we shall create the value of our life.

一名男子去拜访老农夫，老农夫也是知名的猎人。男子一到农场，看到农夫的猎犬趴在中庭，看起来显然不太舒服，好像有什么事情困扰着牠，让牠猛吠，不断地哀嚎。男子看了这种情况几分钟以后，问农夫是什么原因让这只可怜的家伙那么不舒服。「别理那只老狗，」农夫说，「这种情况已经持续好几年了。」「你带牠去看过兽医，看问题出在哪里了吗？」男子问。「何必麻烦？我完全知道那只狗怎么了，牠不过是太懒而已。」「但是那和牠的哀嚎有什么关系？」
「他现在趴的地方，刚好有钉子穿过木板，刺到牠的腿，让牠很不舒服。所以后来他每次趴在那里，就会又吠又叫。」男子睁大眼睛惊呼，「牠为什么不干脆换到其他地方？」农夫说，「我想是那根钉子对牠造成的困扰还不够大吧。」
你认识的人当中有人符合这种情况吗？你自己呢？周遭是否有恼人的事物让你始终无法过应得的生活？如果有，现在就下定决心采取行动摆脱它。

A man visited the old farmer, who was also a well-known hunter. As soon as the man arrived at the farm, he saw the farmer's hound lying in the atrium. It looked obviously uncomfortable, as if something was bothering him, making it bark and howl constantly. After watching the situation for a few minutes, the man asked the farmer what made the poor guy so uncomfortable. "Ignore the old dog," the farmer said. "This situation has been going on for several years." "Have you taken him to the vet, have you seen the problem?" the man asked. "Why bother? I know exactly what's wrong with that dog, it's just too lazy." "But what does that have to do with its wailing?"
"Where he is lying now, there is a nail passing through the board and stabbing its leg, which makes it very uncomfortable. So every time he lay there, he would bark and scream." The man opened his eyes and exclaimed. "Why didn't it just change to another place?" said the farmer, "I think the nail is not causing enough trouble for it."
Does anyone you know fit this situation? What about you? Are there any annoying things around that keep you from living the life you deserve? If there is, now make up your mind to take action to get rid of it.

有一次，阿根廷著名的高尔夫球手罗伯特德温森多赢得一场锦标赛，领到支票后，从记者的重围中走出来时，遇到一个年轻的女子。她向温森多表示祝贺后说她可怜的孩子病重得快要死掉，而她却不知怎样才能支付昂贵的医药费。温森多被她的话深深地打动，二话不说，便在刚赢的支票上签了名，塞给了那女子。一个星期后，一位高尔夫球联合会的官员告诉温森多一个坏消息，那女子是骗子，她根本没有结婚，也没有病重的孩子。温森多再次确认后，长吁了一口气，说道：“这是我一个星期以来听到最好的消息。”
有豁达的心胸就能获得永恒的快乐，用和善的目光看待周围发生的一切。

On one occasion, when the famous Argentina golfer, Roberto De Vicenzo was walking out from the tight encirclement of the reporters after receiving his cheque from winning a tournament, he met a young woman. She congratulated him and then told Vcenzo that her poor child was dying and she did not have any means to pay for the expensive medical bill. Vcenzo was deeply touched by her plight and without hesitation he passed the cheque to her after countering signing on that cheque he had just won. One week later, a officer from the golf federation told Vcenzo that the young lady was a liar. She was neither married nor having a sick child. "It's the best news I've heard for this week," he said, after verification.
Having an big heart and open-mind will give you an eternal happiness as you are able to embrace the world with your kindness.

2004年8月23日，雅典奥运会男子单杠决赛正在激烈进行，28岁的俄罗斯名将涅莫夫第三个出场，他以连续腾空抓杠的高难度动作征服全场观众，但在落地时，因一个失误，向前移动了一步，裁判给他打了9.725分。全场观众用持久而响亮的嘘声，表达对裁判的不满，比赛被迫中断，而第四个出场的美国选手已准备就绪，只能尴尬地站在原地。在巨大的压力下，裁判重新给涅莫夫打了9.762分，依然无法平息众怒。于是，涅莫夫重新回到赛场，举手向观众致意，鞠了个躬，表示感激，并做出噤声的手势，双手下压，请求观众保持冷静，给下一个选手一个安静的比赛环境。虽然涅莫夫没得到金牌，但他以非凡的人格魅力和宽广的胸襟成为观众心目中的冠军。
真正的宽容豁达，比一块金牌更能体现奥林匹克的精神，会更能受人尊敬。

On 23 August 2004, the men's high bar final competition was getting intense in the Athens Olympics. 23-year-old Alexei Nemov was the 3rd to perform and gave an impressive, high difficulty routine which wowed the audience. However, when he landed, he made a mistake and moved a step forward so the judges gave him a score of 9.725 which made the audience to give a loud and long "boo" to the judges, forcing the competition to a halt with the next performer awkwardly standing at the platform. Under immense pressure, the judges gave him a score of 9.762 which didn't stop the booing. Nemov eventually stepped back to the competition grounds and appealed for the audience to calm down so the rest of the competitors can complete their routines. Although Nemov did not win the gold medal, he used his extraordinary charm and big aspirations to become the champion in the audience's hearts.
True tolerance and open-mindedness conveys the Olympic spirits better than a gold medal and that demands respect.

有这样一个儿子，他是个大款，母亲老了，牙齿全坏掉了，于是他开车带着母亲去镶牙，一进牙科诊所，医生开始推销他们的假牙，可母亲却要了最便宜的那种。令医生非常失望的是，这个看是大款的儿子只顾着自己打电话抽雪茄，根本就不理会他。医生拗不过母亲，同意了她的要求。两人走后，诊所里的人就开始大骂这个大款儿子，说他衣冠楚楚，可却不舍得花钱给母亲镶一副好牙。正当他们义愤填膺时，不想大款儿子又回来了，他说：“医生，麻烦您给我母亲镶最好的烤瓷牙，费用我来出，多少钱都无所谓。不过您千万不要告诉她实情，我母亲是个非常节俭的人，我不想让她不高兴。”
体贴我们的父母，就如当初他们对我们一样。

There were a wealthy son brought his old mother to a dental clinic for making denture. The doctor started to promote the good quality dentures, but the mother wanted the cheapest one. To the doctor's disappointment, the son who looked very wealthy simply ignored him by busy on the phone and smoking cigar. The doctor couldn’t persuade the old mother and agreed to her request. After the two left, the staffs in the clinic began to scold the wealthy son, as he was well dressed, but he was not willing to spend money to purchase good quality denture for his mother. When they were filled with indignation, the son came back again to the clinic and said to the doctor,“Doctor, please make the best porcelain denture for my mother. I shall pay for it but don’t tell the truth to my mother My mother is a very thrifty person and I don't want her to be unhappy."
Think and care for our parents as they did to us when we were young.

乌鸦又衔着一块肉在树上休息，一只狐狸来到树下。乌鸦想：“他肯定又是来奉承我的。这回我可不上他的当了。任凭他把好听的话说上十箩筐，我也不理他。”谁知，狐狸却开口大骂起来。乌鸦没料到狐狸会来这一手，听着听着，便气得浑身打起战来。她刚开口回骂，肉从嘴里掉下来，狐狸叼着肉，一溜烟跑了。乌鸦叹息道：“看来，要保持清醒的头脑，抵御不了奉承不行，抵御不了谩骂也不行啊！”
无论是过分的赞扬还是贬斥，都易使人情绪冲动而丧失基本的判断力。

The crow rested at a tree wth a piece of meat in its beak and a fox came under the tree. The crow thought, "It must be flatter me again, and I shall not be tricked this time. Even how much good words it say to me, I shall ignore it." Unexpectedly, the fox opened his mouth and started to curse. The crow did not expect the scoldings and it got very angry. When the crow intended to scold back, the meat fell from its beak. The fox snapped up the meat and ran away. The crow sighed,"to keep a sober mind, I have to withstand flattery and curses too."
Whether it is excessivee praise or reprimand, it is easy to make us impulsive and lose the basic judgments.
