Why Do You Still Carry Cash, Dad? (Inspirational Post)
These days, the younger generation is comfortable going out without cash in their pockets. They use cards or make payments with their phones.
But for older folks like me, who grew up with cash, it feels uncomfortable to be without it. We live by quotes like “Cash is King.”
My kids often call me old school and encourage me to ditch fiat currency. One day, while out for a meal with them, my kid whips out the phone, pays the bill with a QR code, looks at me, and says, “See, you don’t need cash.”
However, a few minutes later, I showed them why I always carry cash while walking down the street. I took out my wallet, pulled out a few paper bills, handed them to a beggar, and said,
“That’s why I always have cash.”
Don’t prevent yourself from helping others; always have cash.

"I love you. every day' But some days are harder to love you."
This was a sobering statement when I said it to my spouse. On days when we are not careful with our communication, we hurt each other's feelings. That works out both ways: 'I believe that on certain days I'm harder to love, too.'
That's a simple explanation and a simple ratification of this issue. We should be more conscious of how we speak to people and reply to each other.
You can choose your words carefully.
When I put so much effort into buying someone a gift for someone, hoping to delight the person and see the delight on that person's face, and when I ask, 'Do you like this gift?' the reply is, 'Hey, why didn't you get that for me in the blue color instead of the pink?'
'Wrong answer.'
There are many better ways to respond to a situation at home or in corporate settings.

A photo of a haunting history
I took this picture yesterday as we welcome the Year of the Dragon. This place has a haunting history from World War II. More than 20,000 Chinese people were here in Chinatown, but sadly, they were later killed on Changi Beach.
This sad reminder from 80 years ago shows how strong people can be. The same street where terrible things happened has seen many generations pass by. It reminds us that time moves on for everyone.
Right now, we are at a point where history and the present meet, with the promise of a future ahead. As time goes on, let's make the most of each moment. Remember and value the past, and work towards a better future.
In the bigger picture, our time is short. Use every chance you get, build relationships, and focus on what really matters to you. As we celebrate Chinese New Year, let's think about the past, enjoy the present, and hope for a future with kindness, understanding, and unity.
Wishing you a happy and prosperous Year of the Dragon, filled with joy and a new appreciation for life's special moments. 🎊

Whack! "Stop Daydreaming!"
Do you recall those younger days when you were exploring the unknown with your mind but only be rudely interrupted by a slap on the head by your parents, and they asked you to stop daydreaming and to concentrate on your work?
We presume that when a child sits around and wonders, it is equated to being unproductive and not concentrating on their work.
Yet, these days, when we are in corporations, we spend huge amounts of money on creativity and innovation and wonder why the employees can't think out-of-the-box.
We suppress creativity and wonder at a child's early age, a reality starkly juxtaposed with the expectation for creativity and innovation in adult life.
Looking back on the decades and the numerous students that I have had the privilege to interact with, I cannot imagine how different their lives would be if they were given more chances to Daydream.
I say to you, allow the child to Daydream.

Imagine you have multiple lives, and you get another chance when one ends.
Whether or not you believe in this idea, think about how you would live differently if you didn't have to worry about making mistakes in this life because there's another one waiting for you.
Would you take more risks and live life to the fullest?
Share with me your thoughts after doing this exercise.

Top 4 Skills for Personal Survival
Yesterday, I had the privilege to influence over 80 teachers on how the new way of being at school should be. When there is so much disruption and volatility in the economic landscape, many things we learn become obsolete quickly. In 1977 I studied a software program called Fortran 77, and Fortran 77 became obsolete the following year in 1978.
With so many technological advances, including online learning, traditional universities may only be effective in teaching some technological subjects. So, I prescribe that more critical thinking skills and decision-making be emphasised to our students. The New Generation of students find that they can extract information much faster through customised online learning than through rigorous university courses.
Here are my top four picks on how I equip my kids.
No 1: Critical thinking skills, understanding and processing information and deriving the best possible outcomes.
No 2: Communication skills: learn how to talk to people, get along with people, and win people over.
No 3. Grit and confidence: A strong mental strength and lots of personal confidence.
Financial literacy comes in a close 4th. It is said that financial literacy is the language of the wealthy. What is your take on this?
