Jingyun Ng (Jyn) is a voice educator, bodymind awareness coach, and performer. Hello! That's where we can thrive and live life with unabashed assurance.

She creates curiosity-led learning spaces for people to discover meaningful ways of communicating, moving, and being with their whole psychophysical selves (Know Your Voice). I'm Jingyun Or Jyn (an acronym for Jingyun Ng) I love learning about the diversity of our human mind, body and soul. I believe that when we pause to listen to our whole self with patience and understanding, we begin to learn

hello everyone, it's the 10th birthday of Know Your Voice! well, 4 days ago on 18 March 2026 🌤 here's the journey thus far -
ig https://www.instagram.com/knowyourvoice.space
website https://www.knowyourvoice.space/

thank you to the Tembusu College community for supporting me from the very start, people who invited me to curate workshops for their organisation/collective/students/staff, the collaborators + artists + mentors whom i've learnt with and from, and all folks who have come for Know Your Voice workshops and 1-1 sessions (:

tldr, i've wandered from being a singing and choir teacher in 2014-2015 ➡️ to starting my own voice projection-and-protection workshop in 2016 ➡️ facilitating voice + bodymind awareness exploration work in 2019 ➡️ and from 2022 til now, my integrative somatic approach to inhabit and get to know our voice-bodymind-soul

i spent the last 2 years in Singapore reflecting, tearing down what i thought i knew and wanted, and very slowly cultivating my private practice with regeneration and care in mind. it was rly odd to not make anything 'new', and only revamp past workshops. even though i had so much i was/am excited to share

part of me is unsure if it'd be too woowoo, not structured/technical/jargony enough, or no one would be interested. but this stewing reminded me of how i felt back in 2016 when i started KYV, and my dear friend and long-term collaborator Mervin Wong encouraged me to go forth and share from what i know, see what unfolds

so workshops and group experiences-wise, it’s finally time to roll out the beta workshops i had in mind since 2025 June 🌤

🌱 i’m keen to facilitate experiences where we'll explore our relationship with inhabiting our psychophysical self, spaces we exist in, and time. if you’d also like to gather online in a small group (3-6 ppl) to try out what i’m testing, look out here in the next 2 months!
🌱 also, in-person experiential workshops (4-8 ppl) for movement-and-sound flow exploration, nurturing sensory care, and contemplating what living well means for us

PS i still offer 1-1 sessions voice-, bodymind exploration-, and performance coaching that draws from various psychosomatic practices!

thank you for journeying with me - see you around 🌤

tldr I'M BACK-BACK IN SINGAPORE 🇸🇬📍 and open for collabs, work, new for-funsies experiences!

hello humans, i'm alive and finally posting. i've been out and about for various things the last 2 months and bumped into many friends/colleagues/mentors (i stopped counting after 9) who were surprised to see me in Singapore and asked,

"wait are you back for good?"
"are you back-back?"
"eh you not going back to nyc?"

the short answer is yes, i've been back in SG since March 2024 (': and am taking an indefinite pause to my already-5-years of intensive training in hands-on work, the Alexander Technique, and arts pedagogy in Amsterdam US, and UK. i still am expanding and applying my experience of my psychophysical self, and understanding of our human condition in other ways (that are easier on my health and my wallet) 🐣 i'm just not too great at broadcasting my journey on social media

so yes, the tree did fall in the forest and I AM BACK IN SINGAPORE / SG / +65! i still have the thyroid nodule (still benign), teaching voice-focused sessions for speaking and singing, and venturing more into bodymind awareness coaching workshops + 1-1 sessions. i'm working on some things on the side for funsies, but i've been taking time to experiment and it's still germinating 👀

🌰 🌊 🫴 this season:

🌤 i would love to collab/chat/meet with folks who are passionate about intersectional inclusion practices, psychosomatic wellness, sensory care, and neuroqueering time and life-living (:

🌤 work-wise and creative growth-wise, am actively open to collabs, facilitating workshop and 1-1 experiences, and projects that would benefit from my interwoven expertise and insights on the human voice-spirit-self .space ; + voice-movement projects that have a shorter-term commitment

🌤 if you need a vocalist who can birth and co-create worlds with their voice and traverse western classical/new music, experimental, and ethereal soundscapes? with or without scores, let me audition for you 🏋‍♀️

🌤 curious to be a part of my beta test workshops/sessions on hands-on work ; bodymind awareness for humans ; living life with resonance (happening june-dec 2025)? dm me!

hello everyone! i'm having a voice recital and mini photo exhibition on Fri 18th Aug @ 7.15pm in Singapore (:

i’ll be singing music that i’ve been working on in the past year, a song i co-wrote, a poem i wrote, and photos i’ve taken that i’d like to share with you all. it’s my first time sharing my own creations in a public event in Singapore (other than the photo exhibition at YST that curated a couple years back)

if you’d like to attend the event, visit tinyurl.com/nowiseeit180823 to register! DM me if you have any questions or thoughts (: there will be a mixture of genres + also a bunch of different types of photos, many of which i’ve not posted on social media before

-

i’ve shared more personal reflections on creating the recital + exhibition [tinyurl.com/nowiseeit-notes] if you'd like to read more 🐣

TLDR, wanna share music, photos, and stories with people who’d like to experience a slice of life with me for an hour or so; need monies for my thyroid nodule-related medical matters and also for my education in Alexander Technique teacher training; and i might potentially not be able to sing again/as well due to a prospective surgery so i’d really like to sing in a safe-ish environment before that possible reality unfolds. so here we are.

-

snippet:

in the past year, i’ve been exploring what it means for me to sing music and make sounds that my voice thrives in - that feels good vocally and physically, even if it may feel very not-me. i’ve also been singing songs that shake my soul, that have made me burst into tears, filled to the brim with unbridled exuberance and joy, or pained and twisted all around - even when it doesn’t feel ‘correct’ based on what i theoretically knew about vocal styles and genres (what does that even mean, anyway?)

typically, many of the vocal and musical works i am drawn to are angular, fueled by a palpable forward driving force, having huge contrasts in colours, where being ‘pretty’ is challenged----

[continued in the doc. it be pretty long if you wanna read the whole thing. i also share about why this event is called now i see it!]

-

see ya around~

transition -

it's happening. i've been saving this photo since June to post on the day i fly off for further studies. what a ride it's been. now i'm through the departure halls and awaiting to board my flight

I'll (finally) be embarking on my integrated Alexander Technique (AT) teacher training and performing arts pedagogy certifications with in New York City in the US! (: I'm really looking forward to continue learning about how we can think and reorganise the use of our psychoemotional and physical self in daily living, movement-based practices, and also artistic endeavours. This will be the first cohort of Performing Arts Teacher Training students/trainees, and I am so excited to meet my classmates, and learn from everyone who are from different artistic backgrounds. The regular AT training is with a larger group of international persons of diverse walks of life, so I imagine the experience of the hands-on, verbal and embodied elements of our interactions is gunna be filled with interesting perspectives and discussions to come! (:

the past 2 months has been intense - doing 5-6 different administrative things for the visa, spending 1.5 months searching for a home, figuring out flights and insurance lol. then, falling really ill for nearly 2 weeks from the seventh month smoke, having to back out from a show, cancel teaching and meet ups 😭, finding out about the thyroid lump in my neck, going for 5+ medical procedures and follow-up consultations

for now, the lump is (97% likely to be) benign, for which i am glad. i'll be back in SG Sat 1 April - Sat 15 April 2023 for another ultrasound + appt, so see you around then if you'd like to meet or have an in-person coaching session then!

I am very fortunate to have worked with immensely compassionate, conscientious and knowledgeable healthcare professionals during this recovery journey since August. They (and 2 humans I hold close to my heart) kept reminding me that delaying my studies will be worth it to attend to my health, for assurance and for the longevity of my sanity and, well, my life LOL

I only have 1 body and self — through this time of granting my self the space to breathe and rejig my envisioned future, to understand the new ways I could live differently, and to buaypaisehly ask for support from loved ones/friends/colleagues, it has shown me how recovery and living with wellness is one of the best gifts I can receive. (thank you to the awesome humans who have been with me on this journey T.T) To see that I have a hand in shaping my experience of illness has given me more appreciation for days where I can eat more varieties of food, do more intense things (how I miss rock climbing and concerts!), and hang out with people whose company I enjoy. I'm still slowly contemplating this, and with Gavin Francis' recent book named 'Recovery: the Lost Art of Convalescence' in hand, I'm excited to see where this transition period takes me.

Here's to learning and living in whatever flavours the days ahead will bring! 🤞🐣🔥('w')

let me go -

CW: pics of skin and neck swelling from slide 4 onwards

TLDR NYC studies got deferred due to health reasons, am currently still in SG and would love to work with you if you'd like a voice-/performance-/psychophysical exploration-related session, consultation or chat with me before September ends

-

hallu there, i'm still in SG. i couldn't go to NYC on 25 Aug as i had/ve a thyroid nodule that required further medical examination. i delayed my flight to 4 Sept, but after i went to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, my ENT doc referred me for a biopsy + pending follow-up review

so here i still am, 4 days after biopsy (a fine needle aspiration biopsy/cytology procedure on my neck, if you're curious). it's now Sun 11 Sept, and i'm still waiting. i'll know on Fri 16 Sept whether the lump is potentially malignant (i.e. need surgery), or if it is benign and may just require observation in the months ahead. none of the docs have been able to give an answer as to why the thyroid nodule appeared, as it could be for no reason or could be due to hormonal, lifestyle, and other health matters. what i do know is that i only noticed its appearance on the night when i was coughing like mad after the seventh-month-burning-induced-throat-infection 😡🔥

my throat itself is great and my voice is working well, even better than before the infection which is always a nice bonus

i've spent a lot of money on postponing my trip, continuing to pay rent for my apt in NYC (for which im so thankful to have supportive and understanding housemates whom i can't wait to meet T.T), paying for the medical procedures (some were claimable via insurance but the biopsy burnt a hole in my pocket)

AS SUCH! if you would like to have a voice lesson, a voice coaching session focused on your speaking voice or easeful use of your vocal-physical-mental self, or a performance coaching focused on your psychophysical awareness and capacity, do pop me a message 🐣 (': on top of needing money, i would love to work together - i do miss learning and working alongside voice/performance/curious humans (i dropped all but 1 student to prep for studies)

hoki will update when more certainty is here
