It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the TMJC family shares the news of the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Mdm Tan Soo Lin. She passed away on 23 October 2025, and this immense loss has left our entire community heartbroken.

Mdm Tan began her JC teaching journey with Tampines Junior College in 2011 and continued her dedicated service when she joined the merged college in 2019. As a passionate and inspiring General Paper teacher, she nurtured many cohorts of students with unwavering care and commitment. Her lessons were not just about academic learning but about the larger questions of life and purpose. She guided her students to think deeply, act with integrity, and develop confidence in their own voices.

Mdm Tan was also a devoted and inspiring CCA teacher. She supported her students at National School Games competitions and was always present, motivating them to give their best, comforting them in moments of disappointment, and celebrating their successes with pride. Her students remember her not only for her encouragement, but for the joy and passion she brought to every rehearsal, training, and competition.

Those who worked with Mdm Tan knew her as someone who went above and beyond for others. She was selfless with her time, creative and tireless in finding ways to help others, and steadfast in standing up for what she believed was right. Her moral courage, clarity of conviction, and willingness to speak up made her a trusted and respected colleague.

Beyond her professional commitments, Mdm Tan’s warmth and care extended into every aspect of her life. She was deeply family-oriented, often sharing stories of her loved ones with affection and pride. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and cared for — whether through a thoughtful word, a spontaneous act of kindness, or her ever-ready support for those around her. Her laughter would often fill the corridors before she even appeared — infectious, full of life, and joyously uplifting.

Those who knew Mdm Tan will always remember her as a larger than life personality — resourceful, spirited, and full of heart. She brought light and energy wherever she went, embodying what it means to teach, to care, and to live with joy and purpose.

Mdm Tan will forever be missed and remembered by all of us who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her. We extend our deepest love and heartfelt condolences to her family, loved ones, and all who have been inspired by her kindness, strength, and zest for life.

Inaugural TMJC Homecoming

On 17 May, we organised the very first TMJC Homecoming event. An alumni-for-alumni initiative, this was the culmination of the efforts of a dedicated group TMJC alumni, led by the TMJC Alumni Exco, after many months of planning. The event sought to reconnect not only the first five graduated batches of TMJC students, but also the alumni from our parent colleges, TPJC and MJC. Almost 220 former students and staff, together with our distinguished guest Mr Amrin Amin, who is an alumnus of TPJC, gathered at our college campus for a night filled with good food, awesome performances and most importantly, great fellowship in the most memorable of evenings.

Welcome home TMJCians!
