Those that went through my example in my video on money and finance would be well equipped to answer 2021 psle question below. Well done to those who have the prerequisite skill through guidance and tuition.

“Helen and Ivan had the same number of coins. Helen had a number of 50-cent coins and 64 20-cent coins. These coins had a mass of 1.134 kg. Ivan had a number of 50-cent coins and 104 20-cent coins .
(a) Who has more money in coins and by how much?
(b) given that each 50-cent coin is 2.7g more heavier than a 20-cent coin, what is the mass of Ivan’s coins in kilograms?"

Three Maths p5/6 tough questions ...." solved" for my students....practise practise practise.
Especially for these diagrams, one of the ideas i find good is read from the "back" and work your way forward. Also read the questions, often clues are in the question, n invariably answers. Just have to "read" slowly and understand the "logic".
I would also like to say to any senior officials in education, if they read my post, which i would be honoured, please do not set questions so hard. Is not practical for psle but train on values instead of 'muscular' logic. Like if i give u half and she gives u qtr n other takes away a third, these hv very little if any at all, to "add" values of love, charity, acceptence of differences, in little children. Tks.

Many children today have difficulty in Maths. Esp when preparing for psle. Their train of thoughts are that of a 12 yr old, and jump n skip to try get an answer. Or anyhow draw models. Without understanding how to derive it logically, in a slow and measured step by step.
Here we aim with our methodolgies to 1, be logical, 2, be smart, 3, to test their answers. So if they have flung answers, they will revisit n test their assumptions again.
