Xin Jie is a Singaporean violinist, educator, and co-founder of the studio, distinguished by her refined artistry and highly personalised approach to teaching. A former Concertmaster of the NUS Symphonic Orchestra, she brings a strong sense of musical discipline, sensitivity, and intention into every lesson.

A MOE-certified educator with a background in Psychology, Xin Jie combines technical expertise with a nuanced understanding of how students learn. She is known for articulating complex concepts in clear, carefully considered steps, allowing students to grasp and internalise techniques with clarity and confidence. She has led violin programmes in schools across Singapore and is experienced in guiding students of diverse backgrounds, including those with learning differences.

Her teaching is widely regarded as meticulous, patient, and deeply perceptive. Each lesson is thoughtfully tailored, with a strong emphasis on posture, and refined, efficient technique, laying the foundation for ease, control, and expressive artistry. With a mindful and intentional use of language, she shapes not only technical development but also the discipline, mindset, focus, and attitude of her students

As co-founder, she is responsible for shaping the studio’s educational direction and ethos. The studio was founded with a clear purpose: to make music with intention, to create with sincerity, to learn with depth, and to cultivate a lasting love for music. Through her guidance, students develop not only technical mastery, but a deeper, more intuitive connection to music.

Xiao Lei is a professionally trained violinist and violist, graduate from the NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. With extensive experience in both performance and education, she has taught students across Taiwan and Singapore, guiding learners of all ages and levels. Many of her students have achieved ABRM Distinctions in both violin and viola.

Xiao Lei distills complex musical concepts into clarity and ease, shaping an approach where learning feels natural, enjoyable, and rewarding. Her teaching emphasises body awareness, helping adult learners release tension and play with effortless control, while guiding younger students to build strong coordination and a refined technical foundation.

Known for her calm and perceptive approach, Xiao Lei tailors each lesson with intention and precision. Balancing warmth with structure, she nurtures both technical excellence and expressive artistry, guiding every student’s musical journey with care and quiet sophistication.

Some annotations here to interpret this Gavotte - Lully from Suzuki Book 3 🎶

Multiple ways to go about this interpretation, here’s a suggestion:

- staccatos are meant to be light, try to think of scooping the bow upwards
- ends of phrases are to be closed off beautifully, and the phrase with the lower register can be brought out differently for contrast
- ascending and descending sequences can be used to create direction, more emphasis on the crotchets to bring out the main beats

Eugene is a graduate of the NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and an activeperformer with local orchestras including the Orchestra of Music Makers, Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra, and Metropolitan Festival Orchestra. He has also participated in international festivals such as the International Cello Festival and Competition and the Singapore Raffles International Music Festival, performing inboth solo and chamber settings.

His musical training began under Natasha Liu Jun Yan, and he later studied with Juan Lin during his Diploma at NAFA. He was subsequently awarded a full scholarship to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, where he studied under Ng Pei Sian and Yu Jing.

As an educator, Eugene is known for his warm and approachable teaching style. He works with students of all ages and levels, focusing on building strong technical foundations while keeping lessons engaging and meaningful. With a patient and structured approach, he guides each student at their own pace, nurturing confidence, musicality, and a lasting appreciation for music.
