"As a Changi Youth Ambassador (CYA), we assist passengers, members of public and staff at the various touchpoints in Changi Airport while working together with our Duty Terminal Managers (DTM) to ensure smooth and efficient airport operations daily. Being a CYA has enabled me to embark and acquire the necessary skills of customer service provision and an insight into day-to-day on-ground airport operations.
Just like the ever-changing Aviation World, no two shifts on the ground are ever the same in Changi Airport. The image and reputation of Changi Airport also lies in the hands of CYAs and I am honored to be part of the family that drives Changi Airport to where it is now. Patience and Enthusiasm are the necessary skillsets a CYA must have as the way we portray our image to our passengers is the way our passengers would view how Changi Airport values and cares for its passengers.
A key takeaway was that with the pandemic, the Aviation World has to adapt and so does the way of our Customer Service Provisions to our passengers. Previously, our facial expression frontiers the first impression of us onto our passengers. Now, everyone is masked up and in addition to facial expressions, the way we portray our body image to our passengers also indicates how welcoming we are to the passengers of Changi Airport.
Last but not least to the juniors, choose an internship journey that would bring wonders into your life experience as you will soon transition into the working world. If you asked me, I’ve never regretted being a part of the Changi Airport Group Family as my choice of internship as it provided me a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to work in one of the best airports in the world.”

"Hello everyone! 😊
During my internship tenure at Asia Corporate Jet, I was acquainted with the inner workings of the company in offering boutique management services pertaining to aircraft operations ✈️ and administration 📄 for clients. Working in a closely-knit team of seasoned industry professionals, I assisted in a vast array of disciplines including flight operations, aircraft maintenance, finance and procurement, administrative matters 💻, amongst others. In all, interning in the corporate aviation sector was certainly an insightful and remarkable experience where I have picked up valuable skill sets and forged lifelong memories ✨.
While there is no specific “modus operandi” one should adopt, I would advise all prospective interns to be open-minded, inquisitive 💬, and proactive in utilising your fresh perspectives to bring about enhancements to the company’s operations. Taking pride in your work and being intrinsically motivated, enables you in achieving maximum job satisfaction and learning, thus maximising 📈 the internship opportunity.”

"In Royal Greyhound, I am expected to be ready for any task that would be assigned to me. With the skills I picked up such as Microsoft Office and Live-streaming, I can improve the systems and processes in the company and boost the efficiency of the company by 87.5%. One major takeaway from this internship is the power of Networking, you will never know you need such people in that expertise of theirs.
Do not expect spoon-feeding in the industry, go for the internship that you have passion for and are willing to do anything to get there. Adapt with the environment of the company fast and look out for anything you can improve or help, it need not be innovating something new. Lastly, make full use of the skills you have to help the company."

"I had an impactful internship with Airside Transformation Office under Airport Operations Planning & Airside, Changi Airport Group (Singapore) Pte Ltd! I contributed to 3 programmes: Video Analytics (VA), Autonomous Baggage Tractor (AV), and Airside Professional Shift Team (APST).
VA uses high-definition cameras and advanced algorithms to improve turnaround monitoring & flight delay intervention. Relevant parties will automatically be alerted when certain turnaround activities do not start at its scheduled time. Therefore, arrangements can be made to prevent and minimise impact to On Time Departure!
I’m honoured to be part of the team, leading an AV filming session with The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao. It was truly one of the highlights of my internship.
APST’s function is to reorganise various airside operational departments enhancing operational effectiveness. I assisted the APST programme by auditing APST training materials, improving learning experience. Through audits, I was also able to gain a deeper background understanding of airside rules and infrastructure!
In the first stage of internship, I lacked the mindfulness that my conversation style might appear harsh to others. Progressively, I learned how to communicate effectively, while being tactful. I had many opportunities to develop other technical skills, such as Excel and PowerPoint, that are essential for both school and work.
A key takeaway from my internship, is that global airports including Changi Airport, are heavily investing in technology to enable improved services & operational performance. With more programs likely on the way at Changi Airport, who knows what will lie in store for interns in the future?
To AMS students now and beyond – pick an internship that piques your interest! Rather than intern job benefits as the primary judging factor, consider the internship learning benefits instead. It gives invaluable knowledge and experience for your career journey ahead! I surely miss my internship!”

"Taking up an internship at SYFC as a student pilot provides you with the opportunity to go through a rigorous flight training programme that helps you to obtain a Private Pilot License and ultimately serves as the “first” significant stepping stone you will take towards realising your passion for flying.
Through the 6 months of flight training I went through, not only have I gathered a wealth of experiences, technical skills to handle an aircraft, life skills and knowledge that are required of becoming a captain of an aircraft, SYFC has played an instrumental role in building my character as a person and as a working adult too.
Personally, the most important takeaway that I have from my experience would be to possess mental resilience to keep doing what you have to do even as you experience setbacks. As my instructor once said and I quote “The very moment you decide to give up, is the very moment you have lost your battle.”
Finally, I would like to end off with an encouragement to everyone in AMS who is completing or even sourcing for your internship role now. Despite the uncertainty that is going around in the Aviation Industry due to the COVID-19 situation, flight training has made me realized that the Aviation world is one that provides an opportunity to learn and experience something new every single day regardless of who you are. Additionally, every member in the Aviation industry is very much like a family bonded together by our common and strong love for aviation. These factors are what keeps pushing our industry forward and growing even through the toughest of times or when mistakes are made. Hence, do not be afraid to ask your questions, to make mistakes and admit to them during your internship because in the bigger picture, you are helping everyone to grow alongside you.
“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”

"My internship with SATS (Flight Operations) has been an ultimate eye-opener for me.
Armed with my previous experience in Passenger Services, I was able to compare how different it was working in the airport during pre-Covid times and during Covid itself ; I could see the drastic drop in flight frequencies and its impact on various stake holders (airlines, ground handlers etc).
Despite this, my internship has taught me valuable technical knowledge and life skills which I find are extremely useful, even now as I finish my last semester in AMS.
As a ground staff, one can really understand the difficulties to release a flight safely. Knowing & understanding how the ground works is definitely helpful in paving the way to succeed in any industry.
I also took the opportunity during my internship to be inquisitive and explore the plethora of occupations which are available in this industry and find out more about the experiences of my colleagues to aid my understanding."
