Google review of East Coast Park by EDUCATING FUTURE NOW
★★★★★ "One of the most popular spots for Singaporeans, especially during weekends. Do you know? 1. It was built entirely on reclaimed land. 2. Before reclamation, East Coast Road was a narrow road hugging the beach front. 3. The beach is man-made and has to be protected by breakwaters. Wit...

Beware everyone! I received this phishing email this morning. Even though it looooooooks so legit (it’s even grammatically correct), there are some telltale signs that it’s fake if you look carefully. Here are 5 things you should look out for:
1. Invoice Copyright Violation??? Seriously? Someone please tell me what this means when the email is supposed to be about copyrights violation.
2. Facebook Team. Based on all the legit emails I received from FB, it’s just called Facebook.
3. Sender’s Email. ALWAYS check the sender’s email address. Here it says .billdu.com. If you received an email from Facebook, the sender’s email should be .facebook.com or [email protected] if you asked for passcode reset.
4. Hi. Facebook should know your name. Their email to you should state your name instead of just saying Hi.
5. View Invoice??? This appeared at the bottom of the email. Looks suspicious. Don’t even click on it.
6. Powered by Billdu. Hmm…..end of story. Now, you decide if it’s real.
This is why I’ve been talking about critical thinking skills in my previous posts. Such phishing attempt underscores the need for all of us to acquire skills that can help us see through falsehoods.
Stay Safe, everyone!

Critical thinking is one of the most important skills to learn. It's the ability to learn, understand and analyze new information. Critical thinking is a basic skill that is often neglected.
Many children are not taught how to think critically, which is detrimental in preparing for college and future jobs. Critical thinking involves basic skills such as clarifying the task, eliminating or confirming possible assumptions and determining accuracy.
Critical thinking is something that usually needs to be taught; however, it can also be learned.
5 Reasons Why Students Need to Learn Critical Thinking
1. Critical thinking can help students learn to think independently and objectively.
2. Critical thinking can help students identify and assess arguments and evidence.
3. Critical thinking can help students develop their own arguments and positions on issues
4. Critical thinking can help students learn to communicate their ideas effectively.
5. Critical thinking can help students become better problem-solvers.

Misconceptions About Critical Thinking?
1. Critical Thinking is an “extra” subject or “activity” that is optional to whatever we are doing.
This is not true as critical thinking is at the core of all our decision-making processes. Poor thinking processes lead to poor decisions.
2. My good academic result proves that I’m a critical thinker.
Whilst one’s academic results may indicate certain competencies in certain areas, they do not mean that one has understood or mastered his or her own cognitive processes.
3. I’m too young to learn critical thinking.
Learners of all ages are capable of learning critical thinking. There’s no minimum age requirement or age limit for one to learn critical thinking. In fact, it is desirable for one to start learning the skills from a young age, as they help to lay a strong foundation for further skills development.

In today's VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) world, it's more important than ever to be discerning about the information we take in. With so much misinformation out there, it can be hard to know what to believe. And even when we think we're being objective, our personal biases can cloud our judgment. So how can we become more discerning consumers of information?
It's harder than it looks to sift through all the information we're bombarded with every day. In the age of social media, it's easier than ever for misinformation to spread quickly and without any barriers. When we're so well-connected to each other, it can be difficult to discern what information is reliable.
It is for this reason that I’ve been honing my skills in critical thinking over the years. There cannot be a more important intellectual task than this. Without the ability to think critically on any issues, our analyses and conclusions can only be weak and would not be able to stand up to any scrutiny.
Follow my page. I’ll be talking about this subject in greater detail in subsequent posts. I’ll also discuss its impact on children’s education, and how they can harness the prowess of critical thinking to improve their academic performance.
