In 2001, Wikipedia was a saviour for many students including myself when dealing with poly assignments. Looking back at how things has advanced, here's my little take for the education sector.
For the past 2 years, we've seen China hitting on listed educational institutions like GSX, EDU, TAL, GOTU...etc Most of them took a serious hit and some never came back.
Chegg founded in 2005, listed on 2013, finally made its 1st EPS Positive Year in 2022 and few months down the road, is now facing a major threat from chatgpt. That's how fast things can turn over all of a sudden.
Since young I've been fed the belief that education should never be monetized. For operation and expansion to do more, no issue. For profit, I'm not so much on that.
I know I'm rigid on this, hence I'm also happy when approached to share whatever I know.
It’s the vast amounts of learning material that bring real value to generative AI systems.
