My favourite module so far is leadership and management in aged care, where I learnt about strategic management and various personality types. I now understand why people behave in certain ways, and how I can fine-tune my communications with them."

Ivy Ong worked in finance for nearly three decades before switching careers. Her personal experience of losing her father to vascular dementia and awareness of Singaporeโ€™s ageing population and smaller family units sparked her interest in gerontology as a field of study. As a mother of one, she wanted to prepare herself and equip herself with valuable insights to address the challenges of an ageing population.

Her attraction to the Master of Science in Applied Gerontology (MSAG) programme at her alma mater, SSS@NTU, was due to its interdisciplinary curriculum that covers various aging-related subjects. The Programmeโ€™s holistic approach resonated with her beliefs, considering the physical, emotional, and social dimensions of ageing.
