This little man has been attending class since he was 2 years old. He loved it so much as a toddler and used to be a runner in class. I was the embarrassed young parent who tried to reign him in, but bless the teacher's soul, she never stopped him and let him be about. He went through a rough period where he was always cranky when attending class, to a point where someone suggested if he could be aging out? Fast forward to today, after a 4 month hiatus, he's back to his old toddler self with a sparkle in his eye. He made his own band train and then led us on a rhythm pattern with the drums. All the times that he seemed like he wasn't interested, he was picking them up behind the scenes 💕

Making his own drum set. Music making play is such an important aspect to music learning... It may look like the teacher is not doing anything (& just play button), but what we are doing is modelling and normalising the music playing and music creation.. and more importantly, holding space! Holding and believing that moment that the child can be anyone he wants to be...

Music is a big part of our lives. It's not just because it is fun but it's an important part of our focus and regulation regime. I've always noticed how curating the right music helps children transit between activities and stay calm. This month, we took music to the next level as we embarked on a different listening programme to calm the polyvagal nerves so as to reduce the fight flight mode, separation anxiety and to promote focus and regulation. It's a lot of commitment to get them to put on their earphones and do some work on a daily basis.

Music Together also has music therapy classes used by music therapists worldwide. Although Merrymamas do not provide the MT music therapy in our center, the music used are similar. We are pro the use of different research based music programmes as part of our experiential learning life.

During our Music Together class, we explored a Japanese song to which I pulled out my old Yukata from my wardrobe. Such glittering eyes when I asked if anyone is keen to wear 🤩🤩

Music supports all learning. Although it looks like a fun costume wearing activity, we always link it back to songs, music and movement for a full immersive experience.

Sick of singing the same old lullabies? Free webinar + trial class

Topic: Connect with you child, one lullaby at a time WEBINAR
Time: Sep 20, 2020 02:30 PM Singapore

When I had my first child, I used to get stumped on lullaby songs. Besides Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Rock-a-bye Baby, I didn’t have many lullaby songs to sing to soothe my first born. And often, I feel so awkward singing rock-a-bye baby - who wants their baby to fall, with cradle and all?? After being introduced to Music Together’s lullaby songs, I am now equipped with much better songs to sing that’s not so melancholy!

I’ll be hosting a free Parent-only webinar on Sept 20th 2.30pm and then a Parent-child lullaby kids class on Sept 27th 9.30am.

We will go through

How to connect with your child & the science behind it
When you can use lullaby songs (and not just during nap time!)
Using lullaby songs with preschoolers/ lower primary kids (not just babies!)

Can’t make it? Sign up to the video recording, and attend a lullaby kids online class at a discounted rate of $8 (USD $5.90). Not to mention we’ll be throwing in 18 lullaby song downloads, mastered by Music Together, so that you’ll never feel lost singing lullabies again!

Another teacher's day present from my musical family. Mummy shared with me her child started to do rhythm pattern "instruction" and started to hold her own class with her stuffies.

Research has shown that the deep play is important for their learning and development, and not just in their music making journey. So keep playing, my sweet pie!

Thanks to for delivering them to me mid day while I'm still digging up to my knees working on my new offering
