Bravo for those who have attended our 2026 June Writing Workshop! Well done! ;p
Sharing some precious takesaways: -
1. Plan before you write.
Spend the first 5–10 minutes building a story planner with your plot structure (rising action (setting weaved in) → climax → falling action → conclusion) . A solid plan saves time and keeps your story on track.
2. Anchor to your topic — at least 5 times.
Don't just tell a good story; tell the right story. Weave your topic into every part of your composition using varied vocabulary and expressions, not just the same repeated phrase.
3. Make it your own.
Every story you've written is a resource — borrow the plot, shift the focus, and reshape the lens to fit the new topic. Creativity isn't starting from scratch; it's knowing how to adapt what you already have.
4. Vary your writing techniques.
Mix dialogue, description, action, and inner thoughts across paragraphs. Each section should have a clear focus and a deliberate method — this is what separates a flat story from a memorable one.
5. Keep going, always.
Strong writers don't stop when they get stuck — they find a way back. Use a bridging sentence, refocus on the topic, and push through. Every paragraph is a fresh chance to impress.
