Who would’ve thought that someone with a rough background would ever have the chance to lead a workshop and inspire an audience? But here I am—not teaching how to be a hooligan, but how to speak with professionalism, clarity, and confidence.

I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to conduct this workshop and share with the audience the benefits of Toastmasters in Mandarin!

For 41 years, Toastmasters wasn't even on my radar. It wasn’t until I decided I wanted to learn how to speak properly and professionally that I asked my boss, Adeline Yeo for help. Instead of teaching me directly, she took me to Toastmasters.

That experience opened my eyes to the fact that anyone can become a great speaker with regular practice.

Through my Toastmasters journey, I met my buddy, Darrell AP Tan, and soon, the three of us decided to start a business: IMAde Singapore, The IMPossible Possible. We now teach people of all ages how to speak with confidence, develop communication skills, and build leadership abilities.

Even when I’m out buying vegetables at the market, I have the confidence to speak up and even ask for free chillies and pandan leaves!

There are three key elements: speaking ability, charisma, and skill. It’s not about gaining knowledge first, then developing charisma, and only then being able to speak well. Instead, it’s the ability to speak well that gives you charisma, and that’s what earns you recognition as a skillful speaker.

Think about the difference between an idol-like celebrity and a truly skilled one—who leaves a lasting impression? It’s always the skillful one. Idols come and go, but true skill leaves a mark.

So, be your own skillful celebrity. Create a lasting impression. Put your heart into practicing and mastering the art of speaking.

I have to agree, since using OGC, we never need to headache over namecard, branding for our company. Whether corporate color, corporate design, logo, etc. All can be edited at our fingertips.

Most important, choose the right company to get the digital namecard, at One Good Card, their service is excellent. Throwback to the CEO's Lounge event at James Cook University on March 15th, I'm privileged to have been a part of such an extraordinary panel. We dove into the crucial topic of preparing students for a career in today's rapidly changing job landscape, a conversation enriched by diverse views and strategies for staying relevant.

I want to congratulate James Cook University for the success of the CEO's lounge, an event that sparked so much engaging dialogue.

The discussion took an intriguing turn when we delved into the choices facing students with entrepreneurial ambitions—whether to leap into starting their own business or gain experience through employment first. Sharing my journey of a business venture that didn't go as planned, I hoped to convey that failure is often a stepping stone to greater self-awareness, understanding, and resilience. Seeing many students resonate with the idea of learning through real-world experiences was heartening.

The candidness and receptivity of the students to our discussion were truly commendable. Some approached me afterward to share their appreciation for the insightful panel.

Hope the event inspired and supported our future leaders and innovators. Success comes from a mix of experiences, learning, and growth, not just a straight path. Initiatives like the CEO's Lounge are crucial in providing students with the necessary resources and wisdom to adapt to an ever-evolving world. Kudos to James Cook University for starting this journey.
