I am absolutely proud of my student. 🤩

My student from afar sent me a snail mail. Receiving appreciation from a distance truly brightened my day. Apart from the gift, I love the Paddington bear stamp.

My five-year-old student's sculpture wove a tale - one that artfully portrayed the captivating illusion of a snake savouring its unsuspecting prey. Such is the wonder of art: a simple sculpture, a play of light, and an entirely new narrative is born. His work will be exhibited during the Mail Art Exhibition this coming December and he will be exchanging his art with another mail artist from Europe. Fantastic effort, he should be proud! Received this beautiful mail art done by etching. Etching is one of the oldest techniques of print making known to mankind. It was especially popular during the Renaissance and Baroque periods and was favoured by artists like Rembrandt and Francisco Goya. It is not so common these days as this technique is highly dangerous. It involves acid and some artists lost their eye sight because of the toxic fumes.

This stamp is one of my many favourites. It features Elena Fortún, a Spanish author. Her book "Celia in the Revolution" is a good read, set during the Spanish Civil War.
