With much anticipation, we finally reach the final stage of the tile mural programme: the installation.

It attracts lots of attention, questions, and even remarks of appreciation from all the participants of the ceramic mural programme.

Often the times, the glaze, the effects, and the discoveries become the inspiration for a new series of work.

And this brings to mind Mediterranean summer. ☀️

By playing with viscosity and layering different colors—like this turquoise that seems to shimmer and shift in tone—you can create effects that stop the scroll. No two angles look the same. It draws your eye in, keeps it guessing.

As part of SG60 celebrations, Methodist Secondary School created ceramic tiles featuring Singapore’s iconic food. These were installed at MRT station in a mural-style community poll project, bringing a nostalgic ‘taste’ of home to commuters.

How do you turn a lump of clay into a one-of-a-kind vessel? Here’s my half-day journey: 🎯

1. Throwing the main body on the wheel (so satisfying!).
2. Carefully hand-building the lid.
3. The best part: sculpting an exquisite little k**b.
