Lina grew up playing soccer and after a knee injury she found Bikram yoga that helped her rebuild both her strength and work on flexibility. After her first Vinyasa class that she took during the stressful times of graduate school as well as working full-time there was no turning back. Yoga opened up a new path for Lina and she has been on her mat almost every day since. Lina’s teaching as well as
her practice reflect the teachers she has been fortunate to learn from and study under. She learned how to be mindful and practice with integrity from her mentor Mimi Rieger. Gail Harris, another DC based instructor introduced her to the structure and philosophy in the Ashtanga yoga system. Angela Meyer helped her tap into her strong feminine voice. Seane Corn paved the way and taught Lina how to integrate not only the body and the mind into the practice of yoga but also the spirit – something she got to learn at the intensive training at Off the Mat into the World. Numerous workshops and classes from internationally recognized instructors such as David Kyle and Tiffany Cruikshank had an impact on Lina’s teaching to always bring something fun, playful and anatomically safe for the students. The core of Lina’s teaching is the connection between the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of yoga and she hope to invite her students to find the same in their own practice. Expect to move fluidly between postures, come with an open mind and an open heart and be ready to push your edges in her classes.
