The Powerpuff Girls from Sahlgrenska Global Programs have made it to the HealthXHer Hackathon! 🎉

Their team Skölda placed 2nd at the regional semi-finals in Gothenburg and headed to the grand finale.Team Skölda participated with 5 other University from Stockholm, Lund and Gothenburg at AstraZeneca Headquarter in Gothenburg

HealthXHer is an interdisciplinary hackathon organized by AstraZeneca Campus Ambassadors, dedicated to closing the gender health gap in clinical research.

Skölda aims to reduce the time between disease onset and diagnosis in women with autoimmune thyroid diseases such as Hashimoto’s disease by improving diagnostic strategies. Through a science-anchored predictive model and the implementation of thyroid guidelines into practitioner portals, the team hopes to make earlier diagnosis a reality.

The team behind Skölda consists of Dorna Fatin (Bahrain), who holds a Bachelor’s in Data Science; Paige Aliese Cooper (USA), who holds a Bachelor’s in Neuroscience; and Badrunessa Jarin (Bangladesh), who holds a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy — all three are current students in the Global Health Program. They are joined by Lovisa Johansson (Sweden), who holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Sustainable Development and is currently a student in the Biostatistics Program.

We look forward to seeing their innovation continue to make a positive impact in the Global Health Policy and Practice.

Such a fun and inspiring day at Sahlgrenska’s Open House – connecting with potential new students, sharing experiences, and giving a glimpse into what MPH and MGH life is all about.
It’s always inspiring and enriching to see diverse minds coming together for one shared mission: health equity.
