Have you really thought about your workplace culture in a new remote-friendly environment? What happens when you feel sick - do you feel guilty about not working, or do you think that taking time off will help you feel better when you come back to work a few days later?

It's hard to define specific policies around sick leave, since everybody reacts differently. But what you can consider is how you, as a leader, can show the way to self-care. Can you tell your team when you are sick and taking time off? If you decide to continue working, at least consider the impact of working when visibly ill - will this transfer to your colleagues and make them feel more stress/guilt when they need time to recover?

In general, long term productivity benefits from sick days - read this BBC article for more of an insightful perspective!

Sick days used to mean resting, not working. Now, however, more employees are logging in from home as they fight illness – after all, if people are remote already, why take time off?

Have you ever thought about how starlink could increase property values? Or why this has anything to do with remote work?

The new Starlink satellites have made it possible for people with a view of the Northern sky to access internet from anywhere. This has allowed people to settle in new places, such as rural Vermont, and continue working remotely. Broadband access can raise property values by 25%, and Starlink provides a similar level of connectivity to this.

So if you're a city planner, regional developer or even just a remote worker: think about what good internet connectivity could do for you and your area - remote workers don't need much to be encourage to move to an area.

Starlink coverage provided enough internet connectivity to enable remote work in distant locations in the U.S. Just beware of trees.

How can you remotely improve employee performance? All comes down to understanding your remote employees, and communicating appropriately.

A recent Forbes article has suggested a few basic foundations to ensure employees are well valued, supported and encouraged to produce the best work possible.

Here is a summary of the ideas presented:

1. Enable innovation, and be transformative in your mindset: Take suggestions for new methods, and suggest ideas based on feedback.

2. Be communicative: Communicate effectively, listen to and integrate employees' needs and personal goals/motivators into their work. Working remotely leads to a high risk of burnout, which good communication/feedback can identify and help stop.

3. Create a clear evaluation and quality feedback process. Make it clear how everybody can provide input and feedback for continuous improvement.
