A while back it was time for the annual Blodomloppet; an exercise race whose purpose is shedding light on the importance of blood donation, as well as encouraging people to become blood donors.
A few of our staff members were there to represent IES Östersund, and we couldn’t be more proud of them - good job! 🙌

Only one week left until school starts back up and we can welcome all our new and old students 🙌

Here are the times for the first 2 days - Thursday and Friday week 34!

From Monday week 35 (24/8) all students follow their schedules ✨

We’re so excited for school to start again - welcome back everyone!!

This week all of our staff and teachers have returned after a nice, relaxing summer break ☀️

The week has consisted of lots of planning and discussions on how to make this school year as good as possible, as well as some practical training such as basic fire safety and CPR 🙌

Now we just eagerly await all of our students’ return 🤩❤️

Fritids has stayed open all summer, and apart from doing plenty of field trips and arranging the camps they have of course also spent a lot of time on site, at the school.

During a typical day they can do everything from watching a movie, to running off energy in the P.E. hall, to doing different crafts. 🧶🏃🎥
They also make sure to go outside several times a day, giving everyone some fresh air 🌬️

One really special activity that was arranged was a water fight; students and staff alike joined in and in no time water was flying everywhere! 💦
By the end of it not a single person was dry, but I think they all agreed that the smiles and laughter was well worth getting soaked 😎☀️

Having plenty of time to fill during the summer, Fritids didn't only arrange the different camps; they also went on several field trips 🚌☀️

Some of those were kept simple and close by to nearby fields and the like, but some went to places a little further away such as Jamtli, Laserhallen (laser tag at Multi Challenge) and Radiohuset (our local radio station)!

The kids very much enjoyed the chance to get away from the school and experience something fun and, for some, something completely new 🤩

To kick off summer, our amazing Fritids staff arranged two different camps that the kids could take part of; Sports camp and Survival camp ⚽️🥋🌲☀️
No matter which camp they were a part of, the kids had a ton of fun!

The Sports Camp consisted of several different sports that the kids had the opportunity to try. For example it was soccer one day, jujutsu another and yet another one it was climbing. The kids got to choose which sports they wanted to sign up to, so that way they only had to do what they were interested in 🧗⚽️🥋🩰

The Survival Camp, on the other hand, lasted a whole week and gave the students the opportunity to learn and try vital survival skills. They spent a lot of time outdoors, both exploring forests and caves but also just enjoying nature as they practiced whittling or grilled hamburgers 🍔☀️🍃

Our Fritids staff always go above and beyond for our kids, and we are so grateful for all their hard work 💪❤️

And just like that, another school year has come to an end ❤️🌼

All of our students have worked incredibly hard and done their absolute best this year, so summer break has been more than earned and we hope they take the time to relax, unwind and fill up with new energy for next school year 💪🔋

The ceremonies were a fun affair and we got to listen to some student performances, speeches and everyone - audience, staff and students - joined in to sing Den Blomstertid Nu Kommer and Jämtlandssången together 🌸🎶

We of course also got to know which house won this years house cup, and this year bear claimed the win!! 🐻🏆

Now, as our principal Mr Reunanen says: eat lots of ice cream, and we’ll see you all again in August 😎🍦☀️

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2026!! 🎓🎊✨

The time of year has come where we need to let go and say goodbye to our wonderful year 9’s ❤️

It’s a bittersweet feeling, but even though we’ll miss them and their absence will be noticeable once school starts back up again in the fall, we also know that they’re going to be just fine and succeed at whatever they choose to do in the future 🙌🌟

The graduation ceremony in itself was lovely with student performances, speeches, the award recipients receiving their award certificate and a little gift, each student getting their time on stage when accepting their diploma and of course the big hat toss finale!

Once again - congratulations class of 2026, good job and good luck 🫶💙
