Easy Ways to Prevent Dengue
The best way to fight dengue is to prevent mosquito bites and stop mosquitoes from breeding.
* Eliminate Standing Water: Mosquitoes lay their eggs in still water. Check your home and yard for any containers that hold water like buckets, flowerpots, and old tires. Empty them out or cover them.
* Use Mosquito Repellent: Apply repellent to exposed skin, especially during the day when Aedes mosquitoes are most active. Look for products containing DEET or Picaridin.
* Wear Protective Clothing: Wear long sleeves and long pants, especially in areas with high mosquito activity.
* Use Screens and Nets: Make sure your windows and doors have screens to keep mosquitoes out. If you're sleeping in an unscreened room, use a mosquito net.
Stay safe and help keep your community dengue-free!

The Aedes Mosquito
The Aedes mosquito is a genus of mosquito known for its distinctive black and white markings on its body and legs. This mosquito is a significant public health concern because it is the primary vector for several viruses, including dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and yellow fever.
Aedes mosquitoes are active during the day, unlike many other mosquito species that are most active at dusk and dawn. They typically bite in the morning and late afternoon. These mosquitoes are highly adaptable and thrive in urban environments, laying their eggs in small collections of stagnant water, such as in flower pots, discarded tires, and water storage containers.
Controlling Aedes populations is crucial for preventing the spread of the diseases they carry. Public health efforts often focus on source reduction, which involves eliminating breeding sites by emptying and cleaning water-holding containers. Personal protection measures, like using insect repellent and wearing long sleeves, are also effective in reducing the risk of bites.

_*-What is Dengue Fever?*_

Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. It's a significant public health concern in tropical and subtropical regions.

Tuberculosis (TB), Its Modes of Transmission, and Prevention*

*1. What is Tuberculosis?*
Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious bacterial infection caused by *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*. It primarily affects the lungs but can also spread to other parts of the body such as the bones, kidneys, and brain.

*2. Modes of Transmission:*
- TB spreads through the *air* when an infected person *coughs, sneezes, talks, or laughs*, releasing tiny droplets that contain the bacteria.
- It *does not spread* through shaking hands, sharing food, or touching surfaces.
- Prolonged close contact with someone who has active TB increases the risk of infection.

*3. Prevention:*
- *Early detection and treatment*: Identifying and treating TB early prevents its spread.
- *BCG vaccine*: Given mainly to infants in high-risk countries to protect against severe forms of TB.
- *Covering the mouth* when coughing or sneezing to reduce the spread of bacteria.
- *Wearing masks* in high-risk areas or around TB patients.
- *Proper ventilation*: Keeping rooms well-ventilated helps disperse airborne bacteria.
- *Regular screening* for people in close contact with TB patients or in high-risk jobs like healthcare.

Celebrate World TB Day: Together We Can End TB!
Today, we come together to shine a light on tuberculosis (TB), a disease that affects millions around the world. On this World TB Day, we honor the resilience of those impacted by TB and commit to raising awareness about prevention, treatment, and the importance of early diagnosis.
🗓️ Why March 24th?
This date marks the anniversary of Dr. Robert Koch's discovery of the TB bacterium in 1882, a breakthrough that paved the way for diagnosing and treating this disease. Despite the progress we've made, TB remains one of the top infectious disease killers globally.
✨ Join Us in Making a Difference!
• Educate Yourself and Others: Knowledge is the first step in combating TB. Learn about the symptoms and how it spreads.
• Advocate for Change: Support policies that improve access to TB testing and treatment in your community.
• Support Those Affected: Stand with TB patients and survivors. Share their stories and experiences to raise awareness.
📢 Together, We Can Make an Impact!
Let’s use our voices to advocate for a world free from TB. Share this post, tag your friends, and let’s spread the word! Use the hashtags and let’s work together to eliminate this disease once and for all.
