Higher veterinary education was introduced in the Sudan in 1938 when Khartoum Veterinary School was first established. That school was under the administration of the Department of Veterinary Services, Government of the Sudan. رحم الله بروفسير النذير دفع الله
نبذه عن شعار جامعة الخرطوم
تم تغيير الاسم من كلية الخرطوم الجامعية لجامعة الخرطوم بناءاً علي توصية مجلس السيادة في يوم 24/7/1956. تم هذا التحول تدريجياً. قامت الجامعة باستضافة أول مؤتمر لعمداء الجامعات الأفريقية في 1963 و حينها انتبه مديرها انذاك، ب. النذير دفع الله لعدم وجود علم يرمز للجامعة ولا شعار تهتدي به.
شارك ب. النذير دفع الله فكرة تصميم علم و شعار للجامعة الوليدة مع الفنان التشكيلي ابراهيم الصلحي. تناقشا في ان يتضمن الشعار المعالم أدناه:
1. المعرفة المتفتحة و يرمز لها بالكتاب المفتوح
2. خصوبة الارض و كرم الاهل و يرمز لهم بالنيل و فرعيه الابيض و الازرق
3. الله - الحقيقة – الوطن - الانسانية
4. نهضة التعليم الحديث في السودان
تم رسم كروكي بالمعالم أعلاه في مارس 1966 و تم عرض اربعة نماذج منه علي عمداء الكليات و مشرف الطلاب و مشرفي الداخليات و أعضاء لجنة اتحاد الطلاب يوم 21/8/1966. علق د. عثمان سيد أحمد، مشرف الطلاب حينها علي خلو الشعار من ما يرمز للحضارة السودانية. تمت اضافة اللوحة المهداة للالهه ايزيس في الصفحة اليسري للكتاب المفتوح و اضيف لها الحروف المروية المقابلة لكلمة خرطوم. اكتمل التصميم الاساسي في ديسمبر 1966 و تم طبعه و انتاجه بواسطة الفنان مجذوب رباح و تم استخدامه لاول مرة في التخريج الذي اقيم في يوم 2 مارس 1967.
