A FAREWELL MESSAGE TO MY MENTOR, DENG PAUL KHOT

Dear *Mr.Deng Khot Thon *,

It feels surreal writing this. You were my Physics teacher in *S2 at MARTYRS MEMORIAL SECONDARY SCHOOL* —2022 the one who explained concepts I thought were impossible, and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.

I remembered what uh once told me as a student in 2022 the time I use to refuse to participate in the class and school activities like debate when uh were our class teacher uh told me that " Being a top academician only without knowing how to talk in the public is something uh can regret after school if uh can't change now to be having confidence and talk in the public like a genius",

at first I ignored it then with time I think about it that even if I can lead the class many times without knowing how to represent it to people then it's useless then I changed in S3 to be standing in front of classmates and today in front of my students that's a credit to uh big sir uh shaped me to be who I'm today

Today, by God’s grace, I stand in the same staffroom as you. I’m also teaching Physics in the very school where you taught me. And now, life has brought us even closer as colleagues on your way to *Makerere University*.

From your student, to your fellow teacher, to your colleague.
Thank you sir, for planting seeds that have now become trees. Every lesson I teach carries a part of you.
This is not goodbye. This is legacy.

A Heartfelt Farewell to Our Beloved Deputy Headteacher 💙🎓

Yesterday was a day filled with gratitude, love, and emotion at Martyrs Memorial Nursery and Primary School as our pupils, teachers, and staff bid farewell to our Deputy Headteacher, Mr. Deng Paul Kot, who leaves today for further studies at Makerere University in Uganda.

Our pupils expressed their appreciation by presenting him with gifts, sharing warm hugs, and taking memorable photographs. For many of them, saying goodbye was not easy—some shed tears as they thanked the teacher who has inspired, guided, and cared for them throughout his time at our school.
Mr. Deng Paul Kot has been more than a leader. He has been a mentor, a father figure, and a source of encouragement to both learners and colleagues. His dedication and commitment have left a lasting mark on the Martyrs Memorial family.

As you begin this new academic journey, we wish you God's protection, wisdom, success, and good health. May Makerere University shape you into an even greater educator and leader. We look forward to welcoming you back with greater knowledge and experience to continue serving our nation.

Day One of the Martyrs Debate Championship Concludes Successfully in Juba
Day one of the Martyrs Debate Championship – Juba has successfully concluded, bringing together 52 teams from various primary and secondary schools.
The tournament is organised to reflect on, appreciate, and celebrate the sacrifices made by the martyrs during the liberation struggle for the independence of South Sudan.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the administration and management of Smooth Star Academy Schools for the warm hospitality and excellent services rendered throughout the first day of the championship.

Special appreciation goes to all students and teachers for embracing the spirit of nationalism and patriotism and for participating actively and respectfully throughout the tournament.
The championship continues tomorrow as teams advance to the next rounds in the journey of honouring the legacy of our martyrs and promoting critical thinking, public speaking, and unity among the youth of South Sudan.

The TBA Martyrs Debate Championship 2026 has officially closed registration, setting the stage for one of the biggest and most competitive debate championships in Bahr El Ghazal.

A total of 22 teams have successfully secured their place in this prestigious tournament, with 10 Primary School teams and 12 Secondary School teams ready to battle for glory.
