Dear Mr Tom Daoni,

I am a consultant based in the Netherlands and mainly work on European
Commission Projects in the Pacific, Asia and the Caribbean. I’m
contacting you because the European Commission has launched a Call for
Civic Society to empower Women and Youth in the Pacific Region. In
collaboration with the Startup Europe Regions Network a Small Business Support Organization based in
Brussels, Belgium has developed a Concept Note titled “Promoting
Digital Solutions for Empowerment of Women Farmers and Youth in Fiji
and the Solomon Islands to build Resilience Against Climate Change”
for which we are looking for Partners in both Solomon Islands and Fiji
for implementation.

The main objective of this project is to improve the capacities of
farmers and agribusiness organizations to promote innovative,
replicable and scalable digital solutions for sustainable
transformation of the agriculture sector towards a green, inclusive
participatory and empowered society of farmers. Specifically, the
action will reduce poverty by promoting digital solutions for
trainees, women and young farmers in remote rural agriculture regions
and islands as a way to achieve a sustainable, inclusive and
climate-neutral economic recovery post-Covid-19 era.

The expected results include 1. Enhanced knowledge and capacity of
farmers organizations and cooperatives to carry out research, and
analysis for advocacy on policy reforms leading to enhanced telecom
access and capacity training on digital solutions for farmers for
alternative livelihoods in remote rural communities; 2.Enhanced
capacities of learners, farmers and youth through new curriculum and
e-learning tools on green agriculture practices and to promote
alternative livelihoods to enhance household incomes; 3.Improved
innovative financial solutions (including digital finance) for
investments in sustainable farming, entrepreneurship and alternative
livelihoods ventures;4.Enhanced knowledge of farmers and business
support Organisations on quality standards, social and environmental
value chains to promote trade in green agriculture products with the
EU; 5. Promote networks of EU-Fiji/Solomon Islands business support
organisations and SMEs through digital platforms for the promotion and
exports of green agriculture products; 6. Increased digitalisation of
the agriculture sector through telecom reforms and private-sector
collaboration.. This is a 3-year project to start from December 2023
and financed by the European Commission.
