MMC post dressings

Post-Operative Dressing of MMC (Myelomeningocele) Baby Using Aseptic Technique
Perform hand hygiene thoroughly.
Prepare a sterile dressing tray and all required supplies.
Wear sterile gloves and maintain aseptic technique.
Position the baby carefully, usually prone (on the abdomen) to avoid pressure on the surgical site.
Remove the old dressing gently and inspect the wound for:
Redness
Swelling
Discharge
Signs of infection
Clean the wound as prescribed, using sterile normal saline and sterile gauze.
Dry the area gently with sterile gauze.
Apply a new sterile, non-adherent dressing over the surgical site.
Secure the dressing without applying pressure to the wound.
Dispose of used materials safely.
Remove gloves and perform hand hygiene again.
Document the procedure and wound assessment findings.
