اللهم إن كنت تعلم أن هذا الأمر خير لي في ديني ومعاشي وعاقبة أمري فاقدره لي، ويسره لي، ثم بارك لي فيه، وإن كنت تعلم أن هذا الأمر شرّ لي في ديني ومعاشي وعاقبة أمري فاصرفه عني، واصرفني عنه، واقدر لي الخير حيث كان، ثم أرضني به اللهم إني أستخيرك بعلمك، وأستقدرك بقدرتك، وأسألك من فضلك العظيم، فإنك تقدر ولا أقدر، وتعلم ولا أعلم، وأنت علام الغيوب

The Istikhaarah prayer
O Allah, I consult You as You are All-Knowing and I appeal to You to give me power as You are Omnipotent, I ask You for Your great favor, for You have power and I do not, and You know all of the hidden matters. O Allah ! If you know that this matter (then he should mention it) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and for my life in the Hereafter, (or he said: 'for my present and future life,') then make it (easy) for me. And if you know that this matter is not good for me in my religion, my livelihood and my life in the Hereafter, (or he said: 'for my present and future life,') then keep it away from me and take me away from it and choose what is good for me wherever it is and please me with it.

أَتَطمَعُ أَن تُخَلِّدَ لا أَبا لَك
أَمِنتَ مِنَ المَنِيَّةِ أَن تَبالَك

أَما وَاللَهِ إِنَّ لَها رَسولاً
وَأُقسِمُ لَو أَتاكَ لَما أَقالَك

تَنَظَّر حَيثُ كُنتَ قُدومَ مَوتٍ
يُشَتِّتُ بَعدَ جَمعِهِمُ عِيالَك

كَأَنّي بِالتُرابِ عَلَيكَ رَدماً
وَبِالباكينَ يَقتَسِمونَ مالَك

أَلا فَاِخرُج مِنَ الدُنيا جَميعاً
وَزَجِّ مِنَ المَعاشِ بِما زَجا لَك

فَلَستَ مُخَلِّفاً في الناسِ شَيئاً
وَلا مُتَزَوِّداً إِلّا فِعالَك

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَنْ أَصْبَحَ مِنْكُمْ آمِنًا فِي سِرْبِهِ، مُعَافًى فِي جَسَدِهِ، عِنْدَهُ قُوتُ يَوْمِهِ، فَكَأَنَّمَا حِيزَتْ لَهُ الدُّنْيَا.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their dish. Someone asked: Will that be because of our small numbers at that time? He replied: No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent, and Allah will take fear of you from the breasts of your enemy and last enervation into your hearts. Someone asked: What is wahn (enervation). Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): He replied: Love of the world and dislike of death.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جَابِرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ السَّلاَمِ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ يُوشِكُ الأُمَمُ أَنْ تَدَاعَى عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَا تَدَاعَى الأَكَلَةُ إِلَى قَصْعَتِهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ وَمِنْ قِلَّةٍ نَحْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ قَالَ ‏"‏ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ كَثِيرٌ وَلَكِنَّكُمْ غُثَاءٌ كَغُثَاءِ السَّيْلِ وَلَيَنْزِعَنَّ اللَّهُ مِنْ صُدُورِ عَدُوِّكُمُ الْمَهَابَةَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَيَقْذِفَنَّ اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِكُمُ الْوَهَنَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا الْوَهَنُ قَالَ ‏"‏ حُبُّ الدُّنْيَا وَكَرَاهِيَةُ الْمَوْتِ ‏"‏

the Prophet Peace be upon him said : "When water is contained in two pots, it cannot bear impurities."

قال النبيُّ صلَّى اللهُ عليهِ وسلَّمَ : إذا كان الماءُ قَدْرَ القُلَّتَيْنِ لم يحملْ الخَبَثَ
