Some of us blame our surroundings for the sins we commit. And cannot see how it is possible for someone living in the 21st century to survive without committing certain sins that have very much prevailed in our societies.
Let me tell you about someone who had it tougher than all of us, and yet he passed, may Allah bless him.
He was none other than Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him).
To demonstrate how ‘easy’ for him to commit the haraam & prohibited: (1) he was far away from his family, and was a stranger in the city, so no one cared about his actions, (2) he was an extremely handsome young man, (3) the one who tried to seduce him was a beautiful woman, and not the other way around, and (4) she locked all the doors so that no one would find out about her plot. But what did Prophet Yusuf do?
🔵 “He said: Allah is my refuge! It is ˹not right to betray˺ my master, who has taken good care of me. Indeed, the wrongdoers never succeed.” [Surah Yusuf 12:23]
Allah puts Prophet Yusuf’s story in the Qur’an so that we can look up to, learn, and be inspired by him. He was someone who had the opportunity of haraam and committing evil, yet turned it down for the sake of Allah.
