STOP arching your lower back on glute bridges! 🛑👇
If you feel glute bridges more in your lower back than in your glute muscles, your rib cage is probably flaring open at the top of the movement.
Here’s what’s happening biomechanically:
❌ The Mistake: Flaring your rib cage hyperextends your lumbar spine (back arch). Instead of driving the movement with your glutes, your lower back takes over the load.
✅ The Fix: Keep your rib cage tucked DOWN towards your hips and brace your core. Think about pulling your belt buckle toward your belly button.
This small alignment tweak keeps your spine neutral, protects your lower back, and forces maximum glute activation at lock-out! 💥
💡 Physio Tip: Practice a posterior pelvic tilt on the floor before lifting your hips up!
