🌿 Honoring the legacy of our founder, Mr. Louis Ngabonziza 🌿
two years on — Forever in Our Hearts.
Yesterday, we kicked off a special 5-day commemoration period marking the second anniversary of the passing of our beloved founder, Louis Ngabonziza — a man whose vision, compassion and determination continue to shape every corner of Nyabihu School for the Deaf.
Over the coming days, our school community will celebrate his life through a series of activities that reflect his spirit: joy, teamwork, resilience and togetherness.
🎯 Individual games
🤝 Team competitions — including a friendly showdown between our alumni and current students in volleyball and football!
On Sunday, we will conclude this remembrance week with a Holy Mass at Louis’s home parish, followed by laying wreaths at his graveside — a moment of reflection, gratitude and unity.
This is the second year we are able to honor Louis’s memory in such a meaningful way, and it has been made possible thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, a long-time friend of both our founder and the school. Your kindness ensures that his legacy continues to shine brightly. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you. 💛
Louis’s vision lives on in every learner, every sign, every lesson, every smile.
May his soul continue to rest in peace, and may we carry his mission forward with pride. 🌟

We are writing to you with the very sad news that Louis Ngabonziza, the founder and leader of the school has died.Louis had been quite ill since early May but the doctors somehow could n't figure out what the problem was, finally towards the end of last month he undergone a CT-scan that showed a mild renal disease that could be managed, in fact on December 11, he had an appointment with an internal medicine specialist who was supposed to take further tests and prescribe him so as to start his treatment. However, early in the morning of that day, he started feeling very unwell and weakened, he was taken to the hospital and his condition started worsening with difficulty breathing, low body temperature and very very high blood sugar which was unheard of for him as he had no diabetes background at all. Around 6:30 he died at the hospital. His funeral will take place on tomorrow 14 of December in Nyabihu his ancestral home village and home to the school that he so much loved. He is survived by a wife, 4 children and a grandchild. Keep them and everyone at the school in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. I have a family of seven children, my wife and I sustain our family thanks to agriculture as the land here is very fertile, unfortunately the May rains flooded our carrot farm that was meant to not only feed us by selling the harvest but also help us send our children back to school in September. We had a very big task of making sure that our seven children don’t go to bed hungry during these holidays. With the food assistance that we are receiving today we will have less of a task of finding food for the children and focus more on making sure that we are financially ready to bring them back to school in September and for that we are very grateful to the school and the partners”
