📊 Understanding Key Statistical Concepts
Statistics is the language through which research findings are communicated, interpreted, and validated.

Yet many of the terms we frequently see in journal articles; Z-scores, p-values, confidence intervals, and effect sizes, are often used without fully understanding what each actually tells us about the data.
At the foundation of statistical analysis are a few core ideas:

• Z-scores show how a value differs from the population mean in standard deviation units.

• T-scores help compare sample means when the population standard deviation is unknown.

• P-values quantify the probability that observed results could occur by chance if the null hypothesis were true.

• Confidence intervals provide a range within which the true population value is likely to fall.
• Standard error reflects the precision of a sample estimate, that is, how much a sample estimate might vary from the true population parameter.

• Effect size indicates how meaningful or large a difference or relationship actually is.

• Type I and Type II errors remind us that statistical decisions can sometimes lead to false positives or false negatives.

Together, these concepts help researchers measure variation, test hypotheses, and interpret evidence in a rigorous and transparent way.
Understanding them is not just for statisticians—it is essential for anyone working with data, conducting research, or interpreting scientific findings.

Day 2 of Our Advanced Excel & Power BI Training

Today we completed Day 2 of the Advanced Excel & Power BI training organized by Optima Data Solutions
During the session, participants explored powerful Excel formulas used for data analysis, including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX & MATCH, and the IFS function. These tools are essential for improving efficiency in data management, analysis, and reporting.

As we continue through the first week of the training, participants are already gaining valuable practical skills that will transform how they work with data in their organizations.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our Lead Trainer, Theogene KUBAHONIYESU, SBDA™, an experienced professional with more than 8 years of experience in the data and analytics field, for his dedication and expertise in guiding participants throughout this training.
And this is just the beginning!

This training is being conducted both online and offline, and in both English and French, allowing participants from different locations to join and benefit from the learning experience.
We still have three more weekends ahead, where participants will learn more about advanced Excel techniques, automation, dashboard development, and Power BI for data visualization and business intelligence.
