More than 50% of public schools in the province have not resumed classes since school started early September due ambient insecurity between the Twa and Luba communities that has led to schools being burned down and teachers having fled. Well Project update: We decided to halt the digging of the well that was to provide construction water for the remaining classrooms due to safety reasons. After digging for 15meters without discovering water it became impossible to continue digging due to the high potential for lack of oxygen for the laborers. Traditional wells are usually the least costly method of well construction but are extremely dangerous to build.

Education is key to our development as individuals and as a society, it reduces inequality and increases opportunities. In much of the developing world, the current approach is based on an out of date legacy. Education should be tailored to acknowledge culture, history, environment and needs of people. We are working collaboratively with communities to identify needs, and to advocate for necessary changes.
