Padua’s Clock Tower & the Missing Zodiac Sign
Legend has it that the clockmaker of Padua’s Torre dell’Orologio 🕍 fell in love with a nobleman’s daughter but their romance was forbidden—and in quiet defiance, he left out one zodiac sign from the clock face.
To this day, only 11 zodiac signs are displayed.
Though the missing sign never made it onto the tower, symbols of justice ⚖️ are still hidden in the surrounding sculptures and frescoes, if you know where to look 🧐.
Padua is a city where history and legend intertwine. I’m so glad my daughter encouraged me to explore it. 🇮🇹

We’ve already explored the first four tasks with my DELTA trainees and there is little fainting there. They seem doable. Below is a breakdown of each task:
👉🏻Task 1
Candidates match 6 definitions with terms or concepts from ELT-related theories, such as identifying a definition of ‘task-based learning.’
🤯 Don’t waste your time here. You can earn up to 6 points only.
👉🏻Task 2
Mirroring Task 1, candidates define and exemplify 4 terms.
🤯 Don’t forget to check if your definition is complete and the examples match the definition.
👉🏻Task 3
Participants analyse a productive activity from a published source, focusing on key language features necessary for learners’ success. This task emphasizes the practical application of working with published materials, underscoring the importance of anticipating learners’ linguistic needs based on genre and discourse features.
🤯 Focus on the key areas.
👉🏻 Task 4: Candidates showcase their grammar, discourse, lexical, phonological, and genre analysis skills by evaluating a learner’s response to a productive task. This task transitions from materials analysis in Task 3 to assessing a learner’s output. Candidates identify 4 strengths and weaknesses, demonstrating the ability to provide thorough and constructive feedback through reviewing transcribed spoken or written texts.
🤯 Consider the level and don’t forget to illustrate the areas.
